cbr900rr potential times

Hi newbie to the site . Thought i was the only rider that didnt want a suzuki drag bike. (got some strange looks last weekend on me sprint rs @ avon county )

Im running a fightered blade that had poor weight distribution due to the jacked up seat. My best e.t so far is 11.02 @125.7 terminal.

Im just in the process of rebuilding the bike and have gained a 7 1/2 " stretched swingarm and a lowering kit for about 2" and im looking at strapping the front end down. gonna change the subframe to hold my weight lower as well.

My motor is stock bar a dynojet and a k and n with an akropovic system.

I dont want to get too optimistic so from experience can anybody suggest what times should be possible with this setup.

Re: cbr900rr potential times

what were your 60 ft. times on that 11 sec pass? With the swingarm and lowered, you "should" be able to get some mid 1.40's 60 ft. times. Are you geared? I would at least be 1 down in front and at least a 45 on the rear (I run a 47 for 1/4 and a 50 for 1/8)

Re: cbr900rr potential times

Cant find/remeber my 60's for that run but i think they were about 1.8 ish
my gearing was standard , but i couldnt keep the front down to get any better times. With the stretched arm fitted i was gonna have a play with the gearing ,see if i can strike a balance between acceleration and front end lift.

With it stretched, you will probably find that your problem has switched from front wheel lifting to spinning. Rear tire choice is another concern (I prefer Shinko USoft 003), also you'll have to play with air pressure. Stock shock is going to start plaguing you sooner or later as well. It's a snowball effect...just depends on how fast you want to go and how deep your pockets are.

Im happy if the front wheel spins
I know that as the development progress's that i will have to address certain weak points in the drive chain and chassis . so to start off im going to make the best of what ive got and fine tune it to the best of my abilities, also trial and error works well.
But it wont just be me riding , my wife has better reaction times and 60ft (and she weighs about 3 1/2 stone less).
Had the promise of spacer plate type wet Kit from a mechanic at a local bike shop who also happens to have an all singing all dancing dyno, think im going to befriend him and ive got electric over electric shifter on its way to me . Just keeping my eyes open for a dyna ignition kit to help with the ignition timing and possible retard for the gas.

As to how fast i want to go , As fast as i can afford without giving up and buying a busa.

I've never seen a spacer plate system for them. He is probably thinking of old KZ or GS type system. Drill and tap the head and mount foggers there.

Re: cbr900rr potential times

well it wont be the 1st time a bike shop mechanic has talked out of his arse . He may have had it machined , so im gonna take a look at it. Even if the plates a load of shite i'll still buy the kit off him for the bottle and solonoids ect.

Just my .02...that black hose you get with most kits is junk. They are always blowing off. Either metal or braided and you will be alot happier.

Re: cbr900rr potential times

any advice is always welcome , cheers mate.
As it happens ive got a Nos kit with bottle , braided line ect. ect. but its only got 2 fogger nozzles so i need 2 more. Its just he offered me the kit for £100 quid so about $60 dollers in your money, it will be worth buying just for spares or using the extra solonoid as a purge.
Just got to make a socket for removing the swing arm bolt and i can get cracking. I will post some pics when it gets to a pic worthy stage.
