My 1st run on the 954RR

I have to say I didn't think it was going to be that difficult. I have raced several times at this track with some of my cars but this was the first time on a bike. Never really planned on doing this since I'm trying to sell the bike but my buddies convinced me to go. I ran against him 2 out of the 3 times. He has a 04 gsxr 600

1st run I was pretty nervous. I did not burn the tire. When I shifted into 2nd I felt the rear tire break loose and I spun, pucker factor 5 at this point..I didn't let off just really worried me. Below is the times :

60' - 2.33
330' - 5.80
1/8 - 8.36
1/8 mph - 98.23
1000' - 10.52
1/4 - 12.37
1/4 mph - 120.77

2nd run I switched lanes, and I did a burnout. Hit the rev limiter in 1st.

60' - 2.17
330' - 5.48
1/8 - 8/06
1/8 mph - 96.11
1000' - 10.26
1/4 - 12.14
1/4 mph - 118.76

3rd run was a disastor. Burnout pulled to line and went to let the clutch out to get rid of the play and drifted forward and red light..I then waited for some reason then went and again hit the rev limiter in 2nd. I'll save us all and not post up the times on this run.

I was so disgusted at this point I left, my buddy on the 600 ran close to me, 12.5 and a 12.3 with a little less mph. Today I feel like going again just because I'm so upset with my performance. I had fun just thought I would have ran better.

Here is the 2nd run

That's cool. My son's coming of age and checking out my ride (have to hide the keys) but we're tossing around picking up identical bikes and hitting the track. My only concern is when he rides mx, he always gets the holeshot, and rides so smooth it looks like he's slow but always seems to be up front.

I ran a 10.68 in the 1/4 with a 2002 gsxr750 with a pipe and a power commander.....It was my fastest out of about 6 runs, but was consistently in the high tens.....practice makes perfect, look straight ahead, shift with no clutch right before the rev limiter, and don't think so much.

My best this far was an 11.00 at 134.42. Gotta get the launches down better for 10's. First time to the strip is a rush. Good times for the whole family.

Re: My 1st run on the 954RR

I may go down against this coming weds if I can get out of work. I won't be able to live if I sell my bike knowing that I ran those times...

At this point my vette is faster.

Re: My 1st run on the 954RR

Went down again this past Weds and ran a best of 11.63 @ 121 which I can live with. I had fun but think I will stick with the car as I don't wanna beat the bike. There was another 954RR same as mine with same pipe and guy had similar build to me. He ran 10.8 @ 131 against me on my first run...I got to see how hard he was leaving beside me which was cool.
