| New Desmosedici V4 road bike to be unveiled next month According to Crash.net, the MotoGP-derived V4 16 valve Ducati roadbike is going to be revealed June 11 at Mugello. I guess with the sunset of the 990's and the advent of the 800's next year, the rule regarding the prototype-only no-relation-to-a-production-bike status of the MGP bikes is being relaxed, or else Ducati won't go into full production till after the season.
This should be an important platform for Ducati.. I wonder if it will be beautiful, or one of the weird looking ones.
Is it possible Honda will follow suit with the V-5?
I doubt it. |

| Re: New Desmosedici V4 road bike to be unveiled next month Well, revealed. That's not really production though is it, or am I missing the whole story?
Yeah, I'd say it's important. I'm really curious to see if they get this one right, or they have another "weird" 999 on their hands. |

| Re: New Desmosedici V4 road bike to be unveiled next month Aprilia has a V4?
Here's a link to the Crash Article - it says the bike will be "launched."
Of course, that may only mean that they're going to have Xaus ride it... |

| Re: New Desmosedici V4 road bike to be unveiled next month Aprilia will be making theirs next year. They already announced theirs. Aprilia to build the bike that Honda should be building. |

| Re: New Desmosedici V4 road bike to be unveiled next month I know a guy in Toronto that claim he already has one on Order for when they are ready. From what he said they are only making 500 or something like that.
As for the aprilia, are they only making the minimum so they can race WSK |

Originally Posted by Heavy-Dee I'll bite. Why? | The V5 is certainly a cool technical achievement, but it's a "rulebook" configuration, and offers no advantage over a V4 in a road bike. It would really only add cost (upfront and ongoing) for no real benefit.
If they do build a V5 roadster, I would imagine it would be marketed similarly to the RC45...an expensive boutique machine. While that would be really cool for collectors and a few select racers...it's of little use to the VFR community.
To be clear, I'm not against them building a V5 roadster...I just don't want them meddling with the VFR platform to do it...
The question I would ask is this...outside of a few collectors, does anyone really want a V5 roadbike, or just a cool set of stickers that say V5...

| Re: New Desmosedici V4 road bike to be unveiled next month If it gets Honda off their VTEC track, I'd suffer through with the disadvantages you mention..
But I really doubt they'll do anything of a sort. If they charge the 30K that they'd be able to get, my only chance of ever seeing one is if Evl_twin has enough equity left in his soul to add that to his collection. |
