A bike collector pal of mine just picked one up 2 weeks ago and he just loves it! *Smoked most of our racing pals up the local mountian last weekend as well (pic): http://bikestuff.marlinmedia.com/mis...ada_action.jpg
He's a real bike afficindado. *I've personally seen his 998R and NSR250 ('94 model) and the RVF400 he just sold to a buddy of mine as well as the RGV and R1 he has next to his dedicated 748 track bike which he keeps parked next to his Ferrari: http://bikestuff.marlinmedia.com/misc/998r.jpg. *Lucky #)(&%&)_()&)(&$ *
The dude is sick-fast and his two-thumbs up on the Multi really caries some weight (to me at least).
It's a better looking bike in person than in the pictures and the DS1000 engines is an almost total redo of the air-cooled 2V twin-spark motor.
Got the hankering for a Multi? |

2OHOH2954 : Seems to me that Chain is jonesing for a new steed *
| I'll threadjack myself here for a second and answer the question: not really.
I love alot about my 954. Looks, weight, handling, acceleration, weather protection, etc. It is a marvelous bike in many capacities.
What I don't like is the firmness of the factory seat (after having owned both Corbin and Sargent saddles, but nixing them for their negative impact on legroom for 6'3' me) and the relatively low position of the clip-ons.
Could I be a set of Helibars and an Air Hawk away from total motorcycling bliss? Maybe. Not entirely sure at this moment in time.
Whatcha think? |

| The Airhawk will transform your riding, and give you a little extra height. The Helis, well, make the bike much more comfortable, and I haven't read any complaints, just lots of praise. |

As for the 954 seat thing, I understand what your talking about, but I'm not sure comfort is something you'll find with that long frame of yours on the 954.
I have accepted that if I want to ride the 954 my legs are just gonna have to suffer.
Good luck Chain and let me know what the 'pillow' does for you, I wouldnt think you'd get a good feel for your bike with one of those things |

| Re: Ducati Multistrada I guess if the bike works really well for someone, they'll find beauty in it, but personally, I think the styling of the front is just horrible. And while my low opinion of the 999's styling was softened when I actually saw one, the MStrada was, if anything, uglier than I would have imagined.
But if a friend bought one, I'd be just as polite as I would be about his unattractive children......... |

| Re: Ducati Multistrada Chain,
Send me your address, I have some cheese for your whine you are dishing out!
The seat will never be good, best thing you can do is get some lower clip ons, vortex, sato, mori and get them down there, get some rearsets and jack the pegs up... Then, the seat will not be a problem for you...
The RC seat is worse than the 929/954 and I had clip ons and rearsets and I thought the RC51 to be much more comfortable as it got my legs out of that 'in between' zone of being low and just enough bend in the legs to be annoying...
Thread jack off... |

| Re: Ducati Multistrada From the tank back the bike looks good. *I like the Me900 looking tail. *Something like that should of been done on the 999. *From the front though, I just can't like it. *I looked over a dozen of em' (at least it seemed) at Laguana and it was always the same result. *FRONT HALF BAD, BACK HALF GOOD.
Now the motor sounds like a fairly sweet deal. *The seat, most reviews have concluded, is horrible. *Riding impressions have all been pretty good. *When I tried it on for size it felt just about like my XR. *Therefore I concluded I don't look at the damn front of it when I'm riding it anyhow. *AND I don't stop and take pictures all the time. *Not a shutter bug.
Bottom line for a street bike, I'D BUY IT!!! * If I had any money; * |

| Re: Ducati Multistrada Sorry Chain, just don't (never did) like the naked/semi-naked street bike look. But hey, it's all a matter of personal taste anyway, right? I personally love the looks of a fully faired bike. As for your incessant whining about the stock 954 seat, have you considered trying one of those hemhorrhoid 'donuts'? |

| Re: Ducati Multistrada Did anyone here ever get a multistrada?
I test rode one about a year ago (with Gary Egan), cool bike if a bit "kinky" in the syling dept.
Could go this route instead of the FJR, any opinions? |

| Re: Ducati Multistrada I like the toasterstrudel, but haven't had the chance to ride one yet. If I could find a really good deal on a 1000S DS I might do something. I don't really care about the styling, can't see what it looks like while I'm riding it. The new '07 1100 has a wet clutch though |

But am I going to be able to find parts after I have a mishap foolishly trying to relive my hare scramble days? more likely than I would like... |

| Re: Ducati Multistrada I've always found the Multistrada to be a very intriguing bike, and considered buying one a while back. From certain angles it looks really cool, but from others really strange. I think if I was going to get a bike of that sort, I'd get the KTM SM950 before I bought that, or wait for the Ducati Hypermotard. |

I want something with factory bags, that the wifey will be comfortable on too.
Thanks for your input Bwhip! I do value it highly, even if you are lawless! |
