The '08 848

My bike, spare car, and truck are officially for sale. Watch the for sale section. I have a new bike to pay for.

Ducati.com

Interesting update to the newly released 1098R also...

Quote:
The power output of 180hp (132.4 kW) at 9750 rpm and a torque value of 13.7 kgm (134Nm) at 7750 rpm place the 1098 R at the very top of its category. It is the most powerful twin-cylinder production engine in history and fitting reward to the continued ingenuity of Borgo Panigale engineers.

RACING KIT
Every 1098 R is equipped with a racing kit designed exclusively for use on the track that has a pair of carbon “102dB” silencers to increase power and a dedicated ECU. The ECU enables the activation of the DTC (Ducati Traction Control) system with eight available profiles able to be selected through the instrument panel’s digital display.

2008 Ducati 848 and 1098R - First Look - MotorcycleUSA.com

"Ducati claims the new mill delivers 180 ponies at 9750 rpm and 98.8 lb-ft of torque at 7750 rpm. In racing kit trim, Ducati ups the peak power claims to 186 horsepower." They should of called it the 1198R... The 07 1098S claimed 160hp but when on the dyno was more like 140rwhp.. So It will be interesting to see what dyno numbers the 1098R put out.. Im sure it will be in the 160i-170 rwhp range.. Either way its a bad bike... Both of them... Makes ya wonder why honda didn't come out with a new v-twin.. But alot of rumors say the 08 CBR was the last inline for honda, to be replaced by a twin..

My goodness I think im wanting one of these too(1098R)... The numbers sound amazing...

it amazes me that none of the big4 make a high end twin anymore . i dont get it. so much more fun to ride IMHO than a i4. given that i4s are fun to ride, just like twins

Re: The '08 848

Depending on how the final numbers come in and basing off the actual numbers that the 1098 has the 848 should weigh very close to a 600RR with nearly the power output of the RC51. My only complaint is the lack of a slipper clutch. I think they should be standard on a twin.

My wife and I are getting a hotel in Omaha Friday night and doing some "shopping" at Ducati Omaha on Saturday.

Re: The '08 848

I showed my wife these pics and she said I can have a Ducati if I paint it to look like this one. It may be my favorite paint job ever on a bike. The bike is featured in this months Robb Report Motorcycle. It's more than just a pretty face though. It has a completely upgraded engine with Ti con rods and all sorts of other cools bits.

Hey Slickwill,
Do you think that if I show my wife a picture of a '08 600RR painted up like that Ducati she'll let me buy one?

Sooo??? How'd it go??
I went riding with my buddy yesterday who has a Sport Classic 1000. I rode his for about a half-hour and totally "get it" now. I'm still in love with my CBR929, but...
