Being a DE native myself. Where do you guys ride that there are some nice twisties? Been all over those backroads back in the day, don't remember any that were all that bent. |

| Re: Any riders near Dover, DE? Delaware is disappointingly flat (I grew up riding in Bucks County, Pa and driving around VT.) One thing that is easy to find here are isolated roads with few stops and no signals. If you go west of downtown and then north or south, there's enough twisties to keep you occupied for a while. Rt. 9 is a decent trip, although it's sometimes very heavily traveled. I rode about 120 miles this morning and had a blast!

| Re: Any riders near Dover, DE? Hey, DUX. I'm the one in Middletown.
As for Delaware twisties, there aren't a ton. The aforementioned Route 9 is nice; it snakes through the marshlands along the coast of the Delaware River (the one Washington crossed; empties into the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic). Route 15 between Middletown and Dover is good.
For the good twisties, you have to head out of Wilmington (about 20 miles north of M-town, and 40 miles north of Dover). Take 52 north to Route 82 north (that's a real nice one; do a scouting run to check for gravel in some corners - somewhat common there). Route 100 north of route 92 is really nice as well. You can get to 92 north from 141, just south of DuPont's Experimental Station complex. 100 is several miles north and will be a left turn.
And fortunately, southeastern PA (Kennet Square, Avondale, even up to Lancaster) has some excellent roads. There's a lot more elevation, too. Nothing like VT, but better than Dover, anyway!
Look me up if you'd like a guide to the "north Delaware twisties" sometime. My e-mail is TAZorich@hotmail.com
I currently don't have a bike of my own (sold it to start a business), but I use my buddy's '02 R1 when the itch gets me. He's also got an '00 that he likes a lot, so I could drag him along as well. |

I'm heading out in a few minutes to a Eastern PA Retreads breakfast meeting near Bird in Hand, PA. I'm running late so will probably miss it but I will enjoy the ride. |
