This is not really a good time of the year to be trying to shear your Northern brothers sheepster.
Frost is on the pumpkins, the leaves aren't on the trees (they are on the road, and that's like sand to a bike, only more colorful), windchill is a term that rapidly returns to conversation around these here parts...
AND WE HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR HOOKY DAY RIDE????
I've often felt bad for our Aussie brethren when we are talking about great summertime riding, at the time when they have to read about it while weather conditions there might not be the best. Now you've opened the door for our Aussie mates to bombard the forum with Nya, nya, Nya, nya nya posts all with the common theme of being able to ride when we cannot.
I don't think that would really happen though. The Aussies have much more couth and gentlemanship (I probly made up both of those words, so don't bother looking in the dictionary) to do that.
However, you chose to all your brethren living north of the 34th parallel. Shame
You can begin to make up for this faux pas by sending me a case of real grits, not that instant stuff from a Quaker dude. No, make that send everyone on this forum a case of grits. (If anyone doesn't want their's send it to me) Maybe you will be spared from the ravages of the winter which is upon us.
Yes everybody, this is all tongue in cheek goofing around and nothing serious in my reply. Carry on, and send grits.
So...how was that ride anyway???
Signed,
Displaced Southerner |

| Re: Warning 24 hour bubonic plague! I don't do the grit thing but have to admit southern cornbread beats everywhere else. Unfortunately I need to be a little less wooly for ski season and to fit into a 1 piece set of leathers so cornbread is off my list for now. However don't feel to bad yall have Maple stuff
My timing was awesome, the leaves are just strating here so there were a few but not enough to be a hazard. Went out Paint Rock Valley through some twists then up and across Skyline Mountain (some great lazy sweepers) down the twists on the other side and out to Cowan TN then up to Sewanee TN which is a great mountain road and got to the top just as they were stopping traffic and getting ready to toss some oil down for repave work (perfect timing got through clean however I am wondering if they will screw up a great road). Turned onto US41 in Monteagle TN headed north for 12 miles of SSs. Then a liesurely strowl accorss TN50 to Lynchburg (home of Jack Daniels) and then home. A 168 mile loop that while easy and close is lots of fun. Overall a great day when there are not many left in the year (still considering an Iron Butt down the Nachez Trace Pkwy)
