I was struck by:
1) how friendly the people were down there
2) the humidity!
3) the food!

Back in the 80's I was working construction with some guys that came up from Houma. They went back after about six months... they couldn't handle living this far north, heck they would call us yankees.  |

I had quite a few friends who had no aspirations of a college education that "moved north" because of the "construction boom."
