Not that I want to but I could work at McDonalds to pay the bills for a while (ya gotta do what ya gotta do).
Can someone tell me what the property tax is like for a homeowner out there? |
I can tell you how our property tax has been since we bought our house. Our property last time the county assessed it was between $85-90k. and we pay about $350 a year property tax. Now we are also in the county and don't pay city tax either so If you look at a place in one of the cities you will get the double wammy. All in all it's not bad.
Gas has gotten almost to $2.10 a gallon. Probably much better than what you are paying right now in Cali.
The schools in the area for the most part are very good.
People with technical skills, such as most things computer or maintenance related don't really have any issues finding jobs around here..
If you have any specific questions about the area that your family or whoever can't answer just drop me a line.. |

To each his own I suppose, just wasn't the right place for me... |
Funny part is I live in this area and don't see many people like that. We do have our share of rednecks though. Of course I could say the same thing about Ralieigh since I have been there many times...... |

Here in CA my house no basement just 1300 sq ft and market price is $405. | Yeah I feel you on this one. I'm considering moving to another state due to the home rates. I'm making a great living now and I can afford a house here (near Burbank CA). For example in Burbank the least expensive house was near 600K and thats for a 900sq ft two bedroom , no A/C shack of a house..
The one major factor that makes moving difficult is L.A. is great for sport bikes . Great weather lots of sweat canyon reads, close to race tracks....
hhmmm

| Re: Need advice on moving to Tennessee I checked out the neighborhood in RosevilleCA we moved out of and the same house I sold in June is going (asking price) for $20,000 less. My wife, kids and I all took a two week trip back to TN. The houses and land were very nice. But the job market for technical (computer/network support) is close to non-existent. We still want to move but it may be a little ways away. We are going to think out a new plan of attack. Maybe move closer to Knoxville. |

I've seen notable decreases in my area of SoCal, and my friends up in the NorCal area all have seen the decline in prices as well as demand. |

| Re: Need advice on moving to Tennessee I have an uncle who is living in Chattanooga, it is a great area. He works for TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) the nuclear power plant. He loves it there, he did take a big pay cut coming from FPL (Florida Power & Light) but the cost of living is much lower. Good luck finding a job. |

I was out in the Knoxville/Gatlinburg area the past fall with my best friend, and we both fell in love with the area. He is from PA and we're both trying hard to move our families out there and live. I can't wait!!! |
