| Wool Butt 1000 Saturday Unless I wake up feeling bad I am headed to LA tommorow on an Iron Butt ride. So if anyone spots a Blue Sheep on a Red RR with bags feel free to honk I should be on the bottom half of the Natchez Trace Parkway during daylight. |

| Re: Wool Butt 1000 Saturday I'm on the IBA's side with that one...it's their organization, they can do what they want...
I have some good friends and family that are LD riders.....and they all have the "what happens on the island, stays on the island" approach...
Edit:
Aren't you shocked that I would be the contrarian...

| Re: Wool Butt 1000 Saturday Thanks all and I agree with Baketech. The rules are explicit and plain. I also read the article and the bit of riding as described in the end was VERY stupid. As was some other described in the article. The only thing that made me not think he was a total moron was that he probably had support crew (moving photos etc).
To each their own though I just have been close and want the plate, and might even have to park next to the K series beemer at work with one to rub it in a bit |

| Re: Wool Butt 1000 Saturday Baketech, if you truly wanted to be a rebel, you'd side up with Hanks on this one and not align yourself with the sanctimonious busybodies of the IBA. Like willi said in the original thread, I doubt there's a one of 'em who've done a 100% honest Saddle Sore.
Sheep, shouldn't you be on the road already? |

Sheep, shouldn't you be on the road already? | got sausage cooking and last things putting in the bags. I am headed to my witness and gas soon. Probably in about 3-5AM.
Then maybe another after Grattan doing the Great Lakes 100 since I plan to take the hole week off |

Sheep, shouldn't you be on the road already? | Negative...I've never fancied myself a rebel....
Besides...if someone doesn't like the the IBA who cares? But then why the hell did he drag it into his piece to begin with? I'm not arguing that his piece was not entertaining journalism...it was....but he shouldn't have drug the IBA into the fray...period.
The IBA as an organization has the right to defend their premise, and they did...case closed.
This is the same argument that goes circular on this board all the time. There is always some dumbass that wants to come to the party, and then disagrees with the premise....when they should just go have their own party in the first place...
As far as the "sanctimonious busy body" thing goes...I don't agree. I have a great respect for the LD rider community....and with that comes the respect to let them enjoy motorcycles in the manner of their choosing.

I'm guessing it's the latter.
I never said anything about the LD community in general; my editorial commentary is directed squarely and specifically at IBA leadership. And I stand by my point.
See, I don't write motorcyclists tickets for speeding (not under normal circumstances anyway), chiefly because I speed sometimes myself. If I issued citations for what I do on my own time, well, I'd be no better than the IBA prattlers, now would I?
The IBA's guilty of situational ethics on this one, period. |

| Re: Wool Butt 1000 Saturday Again...I have no problems with his piece...he just should have left the IBA out of it...
And they have every right to decide to disassociate themselves...period.
Edit:
I'll argue later....heading to the lake where I can speed with impunity...

OK, I'll go slowly for you.
Conq codifies firm rules against discussion of stunting on public streets.
Conq then posts a thread with video of him doing a rolling burnout on the street in front of his house whilst aboard his new XX.
IBA publicly criticizes Aaron Frank for speeding and drinking Red Bull (among other things).
IBA members and certificate holders have, on occasion, admitted on public discussion boards and listservs to blowing the doors off posted speed limits and using stimulants during long, overnight rides.
Pretty simple to understand.
None of this escapes you my friend, you're just being a pain in the ass. |
