On the road again...

Heading back out on the road again on Monday. This time it'll be Augusta, GA for a week.

Anyone in the area know of any good roads in the Augusta/FT Gordon area?

I already looked into Deal's Gap/Cherahola area but it's about 6 hours away and that's a bit too far. I'll be working and "taking some me time" each day.

cbr99xx probably knows the area well. He's always riding all over the place down there.

Re: On the road again...

Blood Mountain, Suches. Also Dahlonega and Helen are cool towns with good riding in them. Also Tallaluha Falls is very scenic with decent riding in the area. For a bit further check out Transylvania County NC.

Tried to make it out to Tallula Falls today but it's 150 miles away and we woke up late. Made it about halfway then detoured to visit the areas around Strom Thurmond Lake. Decent places, but on the 4th of July, it was packed.

All those other places are even farther away. May try again this weekend.

Did you know that a .org member lives 10 miles away from FT Gordon and has not yet offered his knowledge of the area?

Did you hike out to where the tight rope walk tower was?

Re: On the road again...

Nope. We stayed on the bikes. Tallulah Falls was stop #1 around 0930. We stopped at the Overlook Gorge Porch right off 441. We spent the rest of the day navigating the mountain roads.

There was even a stop in Helen for lunch. Kathleen dropped her bike leaving the parking lot ( ) upon which I conducted a mini "welcome to the club" membership ceremony.

I'm going to post pics and a route map when I get back to KY tomorrow night. The places you gave were perfect for riding.
