| whats the deal with riding in NJ with a permit only??? curious about this because I have ridden al around the world. I have finally decided to buy a street bike in the u.s. I picked up a honda rc51 and passed the written motorcycle test. My appointment for my riding test is on june 5th in eatontown. However my working hours are diff then my friends during the week and I'd like to ride around. I did it once so far but I dont want to get in trouble.
was wondering if yall have any feedback in new jersey about being pulled over with just a endorsed permit. and how the cops are about it.
I figured I could be upfornt with them and tell them how I have raced on the track on road and offroad, driven in diff countries, built prepped and test ridden bikes for a kawie yamaha dealer.
Or just tell them my friends bike broke down and i was going home.
any info is appreciated thanks in advanced
p.s.
anyone wanna ride with me ???? |

Check the NJ DMV website. Unless the cop is in a good mood, you're screwed, and he's not gonna give a rat's ass about your prior experience, no matter how good it is. You'd be breaking the law and that's all they'll care about.
Wish I could go to DMV with ya on that day, but I'll be heading for Summit Point Raceway.
But, I can go riding with you sometime. I'm up in central NJ, north of New Brunswick by about 20 mins, off Rt. 22. |

| Re: whats the deal with riding in NJ with a permit only??? Don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine. Chances are you'll get a warning as long as you aren't getting pulled over for doing something stupid.

HEY! I'm right in piscataway right off rt 22 hehe, by rock ave. if you ever want to show me the roads around here that would be great!
I just got back form a little ride, went down rt 22, took 287 down to woodbridge, hoppe don the pkway and drove through cranberry/garwood on north ave. then back on 22 and home.
I'm suppose to pick up my new bellstar helmet up in pompton plains tomorrow(the old shop I use to work at) |

| Re: whats the deal with riding in NJ with a permit only??? Piscataway? Yup, that's nearby! I assumed you were farther, since you're looking to take the road test in Eatontown. Is that the closest these days? I guess they stopped doing road tests in Plainfield years ago. Rider Ed does classes at the VoTech in Piscataway. Sounds like you'd be bored to tears in the beginner class though.
Sure, we'll have to hook up for some riding. |
