| Deals Gap Since all I can do right now is dream about riding, I'm starting to put together some thoughts for Summer trips. For those of you who live down that way, what do you think would be the best month to ride in the area...Deals Gap, Blue Ridge, etc.? July, August or September? Weather-wise? Traffic-wise?
TIA! |

| Re: Deals Gap Traffic-wise, we always did well when we went early April. The weather varies of course, but it was in the 50's last time we went I think. Up on the Skyway it would be colder of course.
Definately don't go when the leaves are changing color ~October. |

| Re: Deals Gap I would say May and September are the best months. Not too hot, not too cold. Also, try to go during the week. Bike and police traffic can get heavy during the weekends.
I would also check Tail of the Dragon for any clubs that might be scheduled for the area and avoided.

| Re: Deals Gap It does get hot in the summer so if that is a consideration spring or fall would be your best bet. Avoid holiday weekends like the plague unless you want to sit back and watch the show (an enjoyable activity in its own right, just doesn't include much riding). People have started to catch on to the riding during the week thing so the week before and the week after a holiday are starting to be crowded, but not yet unbearable. Remember there are several other great roads in the area the Skyway & the Parkway just to name a couple.
If you do this let me know when you're planing on being around, I'm only four hours away and am always up for meeting someone from the .org! |

| Re: Deals Gap I second that - I am only two and a half to three hours from the gap. And that's if I take the long way. I'd love to meet a few more org members! |

| Re: Deals Gap I stopped by for 2 days after Jennings on the way home last May, the temp was perfect, but the 1st day looked like it was about to rain buckets all day and the second day it did. It was still a blast, got a few runs on the dragon, and rode the skyway to a little town I can't remember the name of and back. It was freaky coming back, cus it was late afternoon and the clouds descended before we headed back. We were riding through clouds for about 10-15 minutes very slowly, visability was very poor! |
