| Which model chatterbox??? I'm thinking of getting a chatterbox for bike to bike communications for me and the missus.
Can anyone give me suggestions of which models are best for full faced helmets and what sort of range should I really expect to get.
Any links to online discount shops would be great also
Thanks

| Re: Which model chatterbox??? GMRS-X1 is the way to go. A few of my buddies have them (I dont yet).
I think they have seen 2 mile distance seperation so far but I think it is supposed to go to 5 in clear areas
They love them minus of course the normal VOX stuff that they havent really worked out yet.
As for places to buy them I really cant help there cause I am not sure if the places I have seen them do international but I will check.
edit: This is one place but I dont see anything about international. Also check ebay cause I have seen some pretty good deals on there for new units.

| Re: Which model chatterbox??? If VOX is important, you'll have to look at a different brand, which won't be compatible with Chatterbox frequencies if you have friends that already use them. |

| Re: Which model chatterbox??? This is bizarre I was just about to post a similar thread about bike-to-bike radio....a few of my mates are going to Tassie start of December so it would be handy for then and for the usual group riding.
I've been looking at the the three Autocom systems, then I guess I've got to get a radio with that as well.
On the radio front the below looks pretty cool, and could be used with the above kit. Looks like they have upto a 4km range. UH041P Twin Pack & UH041P Noise Free VOX Kit (1/2 of the way down the page) UH041P website
Anyone got any experience with these? |

| Re: Which model chatterbox??? Seen this thread ratter? Bike-To-Bike communication
Does anyone know if the chatterbox will work with a UHF radio like the above UH041P? Mixing and matching possible or is it one or the other?

From http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/59-CHAT-6 Quote: |
The FRS X2 has a range of up to 2 miles, with 14 channels/38 talk groups, and the GMRS X1 has an increased range of up to 5 miles plus 15 channels/38 talk groups.
| So the 2 and 5 mile ranges from two different versions of the chatterbox. |

| Re: Which model chatterbox??? Ratter,
I started a bike to bike comms thread at netrider (local aussie bike forum) check it out, netrider has a partner who will knock off 10% for this kind of stuff and the memebership is only $AU5. but membership to the forums is free.
I've convinced Cowboy1600 to join and GMAN80 is already there hankering for a group buy of bike to bike comms. So you may as well check it out. http://www.netrider.org.au/forums/viewtopic.php?p=34540 |
