| How to keep headphones in after helmet on? I bought myself a shuffle so i had some music to ride. I have it loud enough to hear it but not so loud as to not hear sounds around me. it came with little earbuds but everytime I slip my helmet over them, they either pop out or turn. How do you guys keep these things in? |

| Re: How to keep headphones in after helmet on? I got the Sony in-ear-canal kind, it has different rubber "mushrooms" to fit into your ear very snugly. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...lm=TF078LL%2FA
But for my helmet, I have a chatterbox. I had to use the earphones for a little while while the CB was broken, and they worked great.
Edit: Silent Assassin is talking about the same ones. |

| Re: How to keep headphones in after helmet on? Yeah, Koss earbuds work for me. My wife wears these 'iso' sumthin's that are major $$$, but the only thing with the Koss's are taking the helmet off. Then I just stick the 'foam' portion back on the tiny stem, as the stem will pull out of the foam. Putting the helmet on is no problem.

| Re: How to keep headphones in after helmet on? Just seen these for a little more money MDR-EX81. Has an ear clip thing-a-ma-bob to help hold them in the ear better and supposedly sound beter. I may give them a try after seeing them availible now and reasonably priced. |

The 'clip thing' and the aluminum post is too universal and fashion geared - so it basically provides your helmet more surface area to gnash them out of your ear canal.
OTOH - they do work really well for hanging around at your desk with the end just sitting in your pocket - now that people can see the big Al piece sitting there - they just don't talk to me, ipod or no

For the price, they are definately worth it. After using the Sony's you will soon find you have no need for the ones that came packaged with your i-pod. Mine have held up very well so- far. And after reading that you have a Best buy gift card I say you cant go wrong. If you get them, post back. |

I like the 71's I have now anyway. At first glance they appear to be a good buy for another $10-. |

For me I bought the '30$ sonys' based on a review put together in the old school board by 2OHOH2954, comparing their sound quality on the ipod to about 70% of the super exotic ones he had tried, with only 20% of the cost if I recall.
I fell in a river with mine on (in a helmet, on the klr) and they came through it ok suprisingly. What actually did them in was the D ring on my Arai hooked a piece of the cord in its clasp and when I went to remove the helmet and didnt realize it was wrapped - I basically ripped one apart out of/in my ear.
The joint where they split was easily repairable - but the low frequency response was never the same in that ear, looks like some coating or something they used to bond the two surfaces originally sorta chipped off and that made one ear sound funky. The micro drivers themselves appeared unphased by the water etc.

One side quit working though, so they need to be sent in for warranty (2 yr warranty). Hear their customer service is very good. |

| Re: How to keep headphones in after helmet on? Rider Wearhouse carries several styles of flat helmet speakers that you tuck inside your helmet. I've used a pair in the past and they work great for music, radar detectors, etc. Just leave them installed in your helmet and disconnect the cord when not in use... Aerostich

I've used them quite a bit and never have a problem with them slipping out. Amazon has them too |

| Re: How to keep headphones in after helmet on? Hi All,
I was tired of putting the headphone buds in all the time. I bought some small quality headphones, gutted them and mounted them permanently in my helmet. They are wired to a jack socket on the RHS chin guard of the helmet. Has been excellent. Also makes it easier to hear the radar detector. Cam. |

| Re: How to keep headphones in after helmet on? I use the Skullcandy Smokin' buds, which work great, cut down wind noise, since they're in the ear canal, and retail at only $24.95. You can find them for under $20 if you look around. Skullcandy: LINK, MP3 Players, helmets, cellphone, apparel, gear, cd players, headphones - headphones - headphones |
