I'm in the same process now with my 01 929. I think I will get a StemStand. This place makes them and you want the 13 mm one..

TECHMOUNT - Home

What I would REALLY like to do is hide the thing behind a fairing but not sure how well it will work.

And, there is no current working Radar jammer. There is a very good laser jammer on the market. I'm also looking at getting one of them. It's the Blinder M20 and sold here..

Blinder Laserjammer

Also sold other places.

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

i have a beltronics x65 on my 929 and it works fukin awsome! saved me so many times. i have picked up ka band from about 1.5 miles away and k band from 3 miles away. i mounted it ontop of the front break resivor with velcro, then put a pice of rubber hosing around it like a ruber band for insurance.. works great and has a good clear view out the windscreen. i also have it hooked up threw my autocom system into my helmet speakers, and it beeps over my mp3 player. ( you dont want to mount it behind or inside anything you want it to have the best view possible)

check out guysoflidar.com and radarroy.com to see comparisons of all the diffrent brands.

stay away from cobras they are garbage.

Hey good thinking on the top of the brake. Good spot I had not thought of and will save me $ 65 on a stem stand.

I just bought a escort 8500 today, can't wait to try it out.

same reason you would on a sports car or any other vehicle that might accidentally go over the posted speed limit from time to time.

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

You would still use one even if you knew that radar could be put in "standby" without putting out detectable emissions and then triggered by the officer when he make visual contact with you. Kinda renders you detector useless, doesn't it??? I just ask because I was in the car with my dad who got a ticket for 70 in a 55 and never got a detection until we saw the car.

If you're the only one on the road and they LEO has not turned the gun on anyone else yet, yea there's not a whole lot any system can do.

BUT, a good system can pick up from a ways back if a LEO has turned on the gun on others.

And that's just for the one's that use the instant on method. Many just leave it on. Any advantage you can get, the better.

I plan on using my detector as well as a laser jammer and will probably apply some Veil to try and make me less of a target.

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

8500 good choice! escort and beltronics are same company. The key is to have a rabbit. a car infront of you, bigger the better because you can get at the right angle and hide behind it. they get hit with the ka and you know there is a cop ahead giving you time to slow down. Plus the cop isn't just sitting there waiting for bikes to go past him everytime a car goes by he turns on his radar and that is when you pick it up.

Ya'll are probably right, but I live in VA. It's pretty much a term of no less than life for mere possession of a radar detection unit.

beltronics makes a radar detector called the sti. its undetectable. so the radar detector, detectors cant pick it up. might be worth looking into.

yeah im a member at a radar detector forum too..

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

Check out Motorcycleradar.com I have one of there setups with a Escort Passport 8500 detector. That thing rocks. Radar screamer works well. I have the brake resevior mount that I mounted off my left hand side controls with a L bracket. Aewsome setup that has saved me a few tickets.

Most important thing is knowing how to use a radar detector.

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

radar screamer and the h.a.r.d system are over priced.. you will be much better off with the radar wired into your helmet speaks.

hey jeepin jeff make sure and check out the voltage meeter on your escort. pretty neet to see how many volts your bikes putting out.

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

Question... and then I'll stop hijackin' your thread. Are you guys, for the most part, just trying to avoid the "67 in a 55 ticket" or are you attempting to prevent the "Holy sh*$, I'm on the 6:00 news" ticket???? You don't have to answer in public, but ya'll are more than welcome to PM me your thought. Bye now

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

i'm trying to prevent any ticket rather it be 56 in a 55 or 150 in a 65. but most the time on long trips i stay around 80.. yeah i could constantly watch my speedo and make sure i stay at 65, but that would be much to dangerous.

Re: radar detector/jammer mounting for a 929?

i agree...its nice to be warned when someone is clockin you when your just cruisin on the highway...when it goes off then you can look and check your speed to legal...other than that...as long as your just cruisin and its clear...then you can focus on the road and obstacles ahead rather than watching your speed every 5 secs...but thats my input...could be different from others
