Aftermarket under tail

I purchased a new under tail for my 00 929 and for some reason it drains my battery. I've tested the battery and its good and the wiring seems sound. Is there supposed to be a peice between the bike wiring and the led taillights and the intergrated signal lights or do I possibly have a short in the actual tail light assy?
