f4i, dualheadlight mod, headlights dead

hi,

this is obviously an issue difficult to troubleshoot without being able to see/work on it directly.

I have an '02 f4i. I got it last year it came with a dual headlight mod. at the end of the season, the headlights suddenly died. what i mean by that is, when i turn key to on, no headlights come on and toggling between regular and high beam doesn't do anything. I decided to leave the problem till this season.

This season, I just took the bike in for service and asked them if they minded taking a look. They were kind enough to superficially probe some of the wires with a multi meter. The tech said that there was no current getting to the lights.

I thought it may have been a lose wire so i removed the front cowl to poke around and look. No visible physical signs of problems. I checked the fuses and they looked fine too. I even swapped the 10amp fuse with another one just to be sure.

If i take the bike in to a service center without knowing what the cause is I can already guess i'm gonna spend a lot of $$$ for the tech to even just troubleshoot it, let alone fix it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what i can do to narrow down the problem, or even (hopefully) resolve it?

thanks in advance

Not familiar with the F4i, but if it's like a 929 I'd check for corrosion or broken contacts in the starter and kill switches.

when you say the starter and kill switch, do you mean the switch on the handlebar or something different?

I think you probably mean something different. I'm kind of a noob, can you help spell it out for me? thanks.
