| possible reg/rect problem? hi guys,im new to this honda stuff by only a week (always had r6's) and i've already got my first fireblade related prob. i've got a '94 900rr and while riding home from work i noticed the speedo wasn't working. i thought no more about it and continued riding. as i went for an overtake the bike started misfiring. this seems very much like a reg/rect prob i had on my yamaha. also,i noticed that when i turned the headlights off it ran perfectly without misfiring and the speedo came back to life.so headlights on,bad. headlights off, good.i flicked the switch on and off a few times to confirm. i replaced a flat battery last week and when i got home the bike started fine. any help or ideas would be much appreciated! thanks people! |

| Re: possible reg/rect problem? Did you check it with a volt meter while the bike was on and off?
Sounds like it's not getting enough power under load. |

| Re: possible reg/rect problem? right, just checked the reg/rect,its burnt to a crisp but so is the plug. my next question is if i replace it,will it burn out again (i.e,why does it happen) and is it possible to get a plug from honda? if i could find a volt meter what sort of voltage am i looking for? |

| Re: possible reg/rect problem? If it's burnt I'd say you found your issue.
But voltage should be 12v+ off, 13v+ while the bike is running, check at the batt.
Dealer or salvage for the plug. |

| Re: possible reg/rect problem? Burnt plug, too much power, then it all fried = side effect of bad r/r. |

| Re: possible reg/rect problem? Replace both, the plug got burnt because of the r/r not working properly. |
