Hi All,
Last week I installed Tomtom on my iphone! - great satnav for the blade! Haven't used it yet mind...
I was thinking how great it would be to listen to music, voice commands and also take calls while on the bike - and have everything in one device and wireless!
So I popped into the local bike shop and I got stucked into (Well...I wanted them for a while

) A Scala Q2 Multiset for use on my blade. So while out riding alone for the satnav/music and while having the g/f on the back I can talk to her.
Now on the box, it stated bluetooth connection to pda/phone, satna etc (for voice dialing and directions) and also MP3 connectivity via 3.5mm socket. Low and behold it doesn't support A2DP Bluetooth Profile (the new stereo format) only the Headset Profile and after fitting it to one helmet I found out I couldn't actually listen to music or the tomtom voice commands - all I could do is phone calls and intercom.
I was a little gutted at spending £260 on this system and not being able to listen to my music or tomtom voice commands. I was scratching my head yesterday trying to work out, how I can get around this, without having to run a cable from the helmet, through my jacket to the iphone's headphone socket.
It turns out, that the iphone can be connected to two bluetooth devices at the same time, so I went on a hunt for a Bluetooth A2DP receiver to 3.5mm..and although a few years old there are devices for such a task -
Sony Ericsson MBR-100
The only gotcha on this is the MBR-100 is very quiet (too quiet), so you need to boost the volume (which can't be done on the Q2, as its expecting a high volumen) or the Iphone, so I've installed in-line amp a '
FiiO Portable Headphone Amplifier E5'
So the iphone is connected directly to the Q2 via the Headset Profile for calls and is also connected to the MBR-100 via bluetooth for audio, which in turn is connected via the 3.5mm socket to the FiiO and then on to Q2! All I have to do, is have the MBR-100 and FiiO tucked in my inside jacket pocket! Wireless (almost!)
Just a heads up, for any other iphone users.
