| Re: Bluetooth I was thinking about a blue tooth headset, I've seen ones which have been built into helmets (there is a unit on the outside of the helmet) and I would say the mic and ear phone part within the foam/padding but not seen one in person.

Not sure how clear he hears anyone ringing him, but the mic on it gets pretty noisy if the bike is moving at "some" speed, even if he's at a standstill it's pretty fuzzy.
Perhaps the modern ones that are integrated are better...

| Re: Bluetooth IMC GmbH motorcom
I have the BTS-200, as well as a BTA for attaching a UHF CB/iPod.
The BTS-200 is fantastic. Easy to use(but can take a bit to get used to using with gloves on)
The only gripe I have with it is the volume. I have a fairly noisy KBC helmet(due to be replaced), but as soon as I get to speeds over about 80km/h, it gets a little too noisy to hear the mobile phone, even with the volume at maximum on both phone and BTS-200. All phones I have tried are the same.
The only way I have found to get it loud enough is by sticking the headphones on the outside of the little ear cushions so they are hard up against my ear. Although, this is not very comfortable. I suppose they could be much better in a different helmet.
The microphone works exceptionally well! I have tried talking while at ~150km/h (on a private road ) and the other person can hear fine....without raising my voice. Although, I would have no idea what they were saying!
If I get the headphones in the correct position in the helmet, the iPod is perfect on the highway at 120km/h using the BTA.
I have only used the intercom for a very short period once, and seemed to work OK, but it's not really a feature I use.
All in all, a great product. |

Perhaps the modern ones that are integrated are better... | Ahh I see what you mean. Would be easy to put your headphones in but then you lose the ability to hear your surroundings.

The reviews have been really good so far. I'd probably want to couple it with some higher fidelity helmet speakers since I'm a bit of an audio snob. The again, how good will I really be able to hear it? |

The music of the VTwin is the best soundtrack anyway. I was looking into it for the bike to bike comms mostly, but a wireless solution for my Ipod would be cool.
To be honest I don't really want any distractions while I'm riding. Riding IS my distraction from the daily grind. |

As far as bike to bike comms go, right now I rely solely on the hand signals/lift visor and shout method. |

| Re: Bluetooth I have a scala rider Q2 multiset.
THe bluetooth connections with the cell phone is great. the noise cancelation on it is second to none. when I talk to people they have no clue I am on the bike, even at freeway speeds. the volume is auto adjusting for speed / ambient sound.
The only downside is that the bluetooth audio connection does NOT support A2DP which is what most devices use to send audio other than a cell phone headset connection.
hence I must use the supplied cable to connect my MP3 player, or garmin Nuvi 765T.
apparently Garmin's motorcycle line of GPS, the Zumo's do NOT use A2DP, and as such work just fine over bluetooth.
FYI - the headsets are WONDERFUL for communication between passenger / rider, or between two bikes.
The headsets also have a built in radio, so you could use the FM transmitter from the GPS / MP3 player to listen wirelessly to MP3's & GPS instructions. that is what I do sometimes. |
