I'm planning on moving over to england in about 3 months and was wondering if there's any sites that I can look at in regards to buying a car- I've searched but there's so much crap to wade through, I'm going to be staying about 2 years so want something half decent but at the same time don't want anything too expensive.

I'm thinking a mark 4/5 escort or fiesta XR3/2i

something that's a little bit fun to drive, but still cheap to run and buy.

also just out of interest, what's an 01 929 worth over there? and insurance for one?

needless to say the bike is definitely coming over, perhaps we can meet up once I know where I'll be living and go for a bit of a play

For cars, have a look here

Great Trade Centre.

They will at least give you an idea of prices. The latter is a huge site with "nearly new" cars, ex fleet and rental cars, company vehicles and such like.

If you want something decent then it will cost, but if you don't mind something cheap and cheerful, say a 10/12 year old Peugeot 205 Diesel or similar, the they are almost free. Few hundred quid would buy something. Older cars cost almost nothing these days.

Regarding the bike, I'd have thought about £4000 or so. Have a look here

BTW I'm heading in the oppsite direction in December. Flying in with my family to Sydney, picking up a camper van, driving down to Melbourne via the scenic route. Spending Christmas with wife's (South African) best mate and her Texan husband. Really looking forward to it. Anyone care to lend me a bike. I'm determined I'm going to ride the Great Ocean road.
