| Euro flight tips - anyone? Am planning the next trip - 'round the world with a heavy emphasis on Europe.
Basically, the list of cities is as follows (deep breath)
Munich
Istanbul
Budapest
Prague
Zurich
Paris
Amsterdam
Stockholm
and then on to San Francisco and back to Sydney
for those of you that fly around Europe, what budget airlins have you found to be the best in terms of price and also destinations? With all those cities, a regular round the world trip is through the roof in price, so I'm only have 3 stops in europe as part of the round world ticket, (Munich Stockholm and Istanbul) and the rest will be with internal budget flights...
Been working my way through google all day, but my head hurts, and I want someone else to point things out to me
Ideas, anyone?
Z...
PS - I hold both Aussie and EU passports, in case locals get better deals

Czechs drink more beer and eat more meat per capita than any other country, so it's a perfect environs for man to spend some idle time. I always travel with my wife....but I have noticed that the women there are absolutely gorgeous....plus they know how to dress properly. Very good people watching there...
The atmosphere is VERY laid back and friendly....you can burn up time there like nobody's business....very relaxing.
Beyond that, the city itself is beautiful and has an amazing history...well worth the time to explore and learn about. Decent transportation system makes it possible...
Have fun...lucky bastage...

| Re: Euro flight tips - anyone? There are lots of new cheap, decent airlines now open for business in Europe. Easyjet and Ryanair are obvious ones with good routes. Both are easy to find on the net.
Watch out for where the airports are they fly to. They are often secondary, more distant from the relevant city and in Europe that means expensive travel links. The connection can cost more than the flight .
Car hire varies enormously from country to country, particularly with insurance included. You might want to drive some of those legs.
Bike hire is prohibitively expensive, generally .
Sounds like a wish list to me, or is this business as well?

Stockholm | Munich to Amsterdam I can comprehend just fine, but Stockholm? Oh well, the other cities are so nice that I quess you can be forgiven your detour to sweden. Just don't drop your soap while there (sorry, this is just "I love my neighbour" humour between us and the swedes) And if it is a snow-oriented trip you need to go about 1000 km further north. When are you going? |

When are you going? | Actually, it's not Stockholm we are interested in, it's the Ice hotel, and the Aroura Borealis tour on snow mobiles that is dragging us there Was going to do it in Alaska, but somehow, we didn't quite make it to alaska in Feb when we were in Canada.
Unless, of course, you can suggest another (more interesting) path to Kiruna...
We are travelling out Feb 12 (ish) and the total is going to be about 40 days.
As for Athens - yes, I know.. but believe me I will go to Europe again in summer (just ask the regulars about me and my trips... I usually spend about 1/4 of the year away from home.)

We are travelling out Feb 12 (ish) and the total is going to be about 40 days. | Ok, now you are starting to make some sense So you're gonna take "northern lights" snowmobile (or "revontulet" as we call them) tour and see ice hotel. Other similar option (For Ice Hotel) is Snow castle/hotel in Kemi here in Finland. I should propably tell to come to Finland (as a true patriot would) as everything is bigger and better here , but all I can tell you is that you're gonna have a blast Total darkness and silence, -40 degrees celsius and northern lights is an unreal experience no matter which side of the border you are. As for ice hotel, I was in Sydney in december a couple of years ago, so I can see why Ice Hotel tempts you. |

| Re: Euro flight tips - anyone? Zee,
Check EUjet or EUair, I forget what it's called, I drive everywhere here. They're doing 7 euro trips from major cities in Europe. As far as Czech goes, fly into Praha (Prague, for those who don't know it's real name) and make sure you visit Plzen (Pilsen, where pilsner beer gets it's name from). It's 30 minutes away but it's where you'll get a real taste of what Czech is like. It made a believer out of me, more hot chicks per capita than all the scandanavian bikini team cities combined. There's a bar called Maxim right off the main square that will break the zipper on your pants. (If you go, drop me a line and I can direct you all through the city)
For the administrator, I'm not advocating any particular bar for commercial purposes, they're all good. This one just holds a special place in my heart. |

| Re: Euro flight tips - anyone? tnarinen - thanks for the ice castle link! Sure Ilooks good, will have to discuss the possibility of that one instead of the ice hotel
seamus - thanks for the tips re Praha (being of Euro origin, I do indeed know the real names for most place ) And yep, I know all about the hot babe situation there, all too well. I can pretty much guarantee me and my SO will go to Praha, as it is one of the places we have been wanting to go since the first time we were in Europe together. Really looking forward to it actually So will send you a mail closer to the travel date for more info :thymb: thanks.
Good stuff guys, really apreciate it
