As for the music, Robert, are you telling me you never listen to any when you ride?
Consul's were a bit before my time, Twincam, but I do remember them. What about them? |

Consul's were a bit before my time, Twincam, but I do remember them. What about them? | Nah relationships just get stronger - well between bikes and humans that is. I love my bike ha-ha. Wow. I can’t believe you actually remember them... I used to own three, two convertibles and one saloon. Due to financial issues in the past, I sold my whole collection. Recently, I bought a 1960 Ford Consul in black - 29000 miles since new and it has never been restored, welded or messed around with. The car is in concourse condition.
When I get it out in the summer ill take a few pictures of it and post them on here – that’s if I don’t get shot for it
Anyway, the sun is out today and the roads are drying up so the Blade is coming back out.
Take care and ride safely,
Twincam |

I need full concentration on the road and other uses around me - Im normally shouting at car drivers...
You cant beat the sound the Fireblade makes as you go further and further into the revs, it just sounds more... scrumptious!
Take care |

| Re: Any UK bikers here? Actually, Robert, there seems to be quite a few guys and girls on the site that do. I must confess that I listen to music all the time, but then I've only got a babyblade, which won't sound as nice as your 1 thou, and I certianly don't ride it as quickly as your implying you do.
Anyway, what are you guys listening to when driving the car then?
Hey, Twin. I didn't know they ever made a convertable Consul. I'd like to see pics of that, if you've got any. |

This was a 1960 Consul Convertible i bought from someone in Hertfordshire... Its now sold.. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...hid/9550_1.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...hid/7c6d_1.jpg
This is a really poor quality picture but that is my current one... (29000 miles, never been welded or modified in any way - totally original and mint) http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...hid/Consul.png
There is also Consul/Zepher/Zodiac Convertibles, Zepher/Zodiac Pick ups, Consul Farnham Estates that were produced... Well as well as the saloons.
Take care |

I certainly didn't think that - I did think you were just being a little distant, aloof, maybe?
Like the choice of tune btw. I'm listening to The Cooper Temple Clause at the moment. Good stuff! I highly recommend it.
I'm actually living in Phuket. Where did you stay? I'll put good money on it that you visited Patong a couple of times even if you didn't stay there.
Re the tsunami, I was here for that one, but I kind of feel a bit of fraud. While I was in Patong when it came in, I was staying at a mate's guesthouse, which was on Rat-u-thit road. Just far enough back not to even notice it had happened. The 1st I knew of it, was my mate's receptionist banging on my door yelling, "the water's coming, the water's coming!" and "Run for the hills!"
For about 2 hours I just thought the drains had burst (not an uncommon occurance here, as you can probably imagine). It wasn't until I saw the jet-ski guys riding the water on the main road with bodies on the back and the thousands of little fish on the road that I realized it was a lot more serious. |

| Re: Any UK bikers here? Twin I'll bet you're gutted you sold that convertable. She looked in fab condition.
Re the saloon, difficult to tell from the pic, but if she's in the kind of condition you say she's got to be a real keeper. Thanks for the pics. That took me right back to when I was in nappies! |

That took me right back to when I was in nappies! | Well circumstances change, and so does times... I was still in nappies when they were released, but i bought one when i was in my 30's.
I was told that the convertible starred in East Enders and also a Coleman's Advert - must have been good.
The saloon is now insured for £5,500 - the club said 6 but my insurer would need a full inspection and blah blah. |

The roads are still just as crazy as ever, probably worse just at the moment. It Loi Kratong day today (when all the candle balloons get sent up from the beach) plus the beginning of high season. I'll stay away from Patters for the next couple of evenings as the roads there at night for a couple of days before and after are just grid-lock from 6pm up to about 4am. |

I like all sorts... |

Yet on an island where drinking is the second major pass-time, I'm constantly amazed at the increase in road accidents here during the Christmas/New Year period. It's nearly always attributed to alcohol but its certainly not always drunk riders/drivers involved. Some are just plan stupid. Example:
I was riding from Chalong to Kata the other day. I know the road well and understand the ebb and flow of it. The weather was fantastic, the roads clean (or as clean as they'll ever be here) and the traffic was moving well. From my inside I caught a glimpse of a great-looking thigh attached, as one might expect, to a great-looking girl riding a brand-new automatic scooter. Cool, I thought. Nice view for the ride, too.
Girls here, generally, aren't afflicted with the disparate need to get in front of a bigger bike, but clearly this one was if it meant getting in front of me. Now, I've had enough Thai guys do this to me to know that if I open her up and get going the Thai will kill themselves to get ahead of me, so I carried on at the normal pace. However, this meant that I had time to pick the right route passed the cars. Twice I got in front of her because she kept trying to go down the inside of the cars as | |
