I just recently purchased my old 98 900rr back to rebuild it after the person who I sold it to wrecked it. It still runs great and I actually plan on using it for a track bike.

After having spent numerous nights reading forums, doing web searches, trying to dig up the easiest way to convert over to a inverted fork and a 17" front wheel...... I am finally at a loss. Just when I think I get close, I read another article or thread that completely states the opposite.

What is the easiest route to go? Will a 1000RR front end bolt up directly if I use the Triples and the front wheel and forks? I am looking for the easiest and best route.... I am just now getting into working on my own bikes. If I don't have to shave this.. or cut that... or get parts off 5 different bikes the happier I would be.

Any suggestions?

The smoke is white and pretty moderate. I checked coolant(no oil), oil(no coolant), and FPR. The exhaust is not sweet and just smells like how exhaust should smell. When the bike warms up it doesn't smoke at all even when riding.I'm pretty stumped. I figure it's either the rectifier, or the stator. From what I hear the stators are known to fail. Is there a way to isolate the problem, so I know if my rectifier is still good.

My bike has been running a bit average just recently, so I decided to do the fuel filter(never been changed, 55,000km's).

When I pulled the pump out, I found the fuel was terrible!!! It was a dark brown colour, and probably half of the remaining fuel after i drained it was water!!! :huh:

After looking closer, I found that most of the tank was covered with surface rust. I decided to get in there with a rag & scouring pad which removed nearly all of it. It was disgusting!

Is this a common thing with 929's(or older bikes in general?):confused:

Rinsed the tank several times with fresh fuel before re-assembling it, and found that I forgot to get some crush washers for the fuel rail hose. DOH! I used the existing ones, and it doesn't appear to be leaking under pressure, but should I really replace them anyway? :idunno:
