Stiffen up the suspension on 2004 Honda 599

Guys and gals, I just changed bikes from several Harley Davidson Sportsters to a nice Honda 599 and I finding the suspension to be too soft.
Has anyone tried Progressive Springs with heavier oil up front and purchased the upgrade shocks?
Is this soft ride normal for a stock machine (2004) with 1000 miles?
Thanks for your input.

I happened across this today is it for real? Like did someone actually fab this or is it photoshop.

I have seen the fairing they used here on the hornet/919 sites out there but i wonder if a cbr swing arm will work with the 919 frame? the tail section wouldn't be to much of a challenge i wouldnt think chop the tail stock frame and fab up a sub frame from a 100rr. new exhaust custom seat. Im just juicing here:drool: maybe if i find a totalled 919 one day in the future......

Replacing Bulbs (hard to find)

Does anyone know how to identify minature wedge type bulbs? I am looking for two 12 Volt 21 Watt bulbs but they can't have a large diameter due to the hole they must fit into. I know they exist because I have one in the bike but it's in an aftermarket turn signal and I don't know any details about it. All the bulb says on it is "12V21W" no other numbers or identifying info. I've searched the web with no results. I thought knowing how to identify the specific type could help me narrow the search.

I can't seem to figure out how to remove the bulbs from the indicator lights on my 94 honda CB1K. I have the speedometer taken apart to change the bulbs and they are down inside a rubber socket that isn't very flexable. Any tips on getting them out? I've tried "rolling" the rubber down and it gets closer but still not possible with my fingers. Is there a tool for this? Needle nose pliers? Seems like I'd shatter the bulb or rip out the wiring if I get too rough with it. Help.

I am wondering if anyone knows if an 06' 919 subframe is the same as any other subframe from honda? Such as maybe a 900RR or f4 even... OR... is the subframe the 919 has been blessed with exclusive to the 919? I have talked to a couple of dealerships and apparently only confuse them.
My goal is to change my entire tail section preferrably to a one piece sharkskin w/ foam seat and all..WooHoo any ideas or info are greatly appreciated.:patriot:

This question is just theoretical. How does one achieve the fastest 0-60 time on a 919? Is it just open the throttle in 1st to redline, and then a quick shift to second to go from ~55-60?

Anybody knows what the true tested 0-60 time is?

I'm not about to race or anything. I'm just curious so I can brag about my bike and lack of ability to use it's full potential :)

hello guys (and gals) I am very new to the Honda street bike scene. I've been riding Harleys for 20 years and riding/racing dirtbikes longer than that.

I'm 40 yrs old and just bought an 07' 919. I'm really digging this bike and wish I had started riding one a long time ago. My question, which may seem dumb to some of you, is this...........will a Givi windscreen really help that much on this bike? I just ordered one today after reading some reviews on them and then found this site. Wish i would have found this site first.

BTW, the Harley is gone and probably won't be getting another one after riding this bike.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Turn signal electrical problems

My 94 CB1K has some turn signal issues. The front signals are factory, the rear have been removed and replaced, drilled into the rear cowl. The front don't have any running lights and I'm not sure if it's supposed to or not. In the rear, the left side has a running light and the right doesn't. This has nothing to do with the bulbs as I've replaced them with the same results. When I turn the right blinker on it blinks normally (no running light) but when I turn the left on it blinks fast (with running light) as if it has a bulb out but as stated earlier the bulbs are all new. The wiring in the rear was done by the previous owner. I don't even know where to start to solve this problem. Could it be the relay? I hear it clicking when the power is applied to the signals. All the fuses are good as well. Help!!

My '03 919's neutral indicator (the green "N" light on the instrument panel) has been a bit dodgy of late. Sometimes it lights up when i put the bike in neutral and sometimes it doesn't come on. Neutral is easy enough to find but does the fact that the indicator sometimes not light up a big deal?

No shifting problems felt, just the lack of a light for now. Is it just a wiring/electric quirk or potentially a transmission headache?

Hey everyone,

I'm planning on flushing my cooling system as soon as my new Thermo switch arrives. Can I use CAR coolant in my 1994 Honda CB1000? If yes/no which brand would you suggest? I'm aware it needs to be silicate free and ethelyne glycol based for aluminum engines but beyond that I'm not sure what to buy. I'm sure Honda coolant would be best but if it's all the same I'd like to save a couple bucks.

Also, any tips for when I do flush it? Do i need to use distilled water for the flush?
