Its time for winter projects and one I have been thinking about is taping off part of the front fairings directly in front of the air ducts and cutting holes out on each side with a mesh screen behind the fairing. Has anyone ever done this and can give me some hints or tips or I would love to see pictures whether they are yours or not. I am gonna start this project in December. Pics will come.

What reasons made you go with a Honda CBR over other bikes?

Ok, since this is on the Honda Fireblade forum, I would assume that we all have, had, or will have a Honda CBR (fireblade) I was just curious as to the reasons why other people went with the CBR over other bikes, like a GSXR, ZZR or Yammie R1?

Me? I am a Honda whore. I don't care if another bike claims to go faster, handle better, or do faster lap times. I like Honda. I like Honda's engineering. I like Honda's ergonomics. I like Honda's build quality. I really don't come anywhere near close to using the full capabilities of my cbr1krr6, so getting a bike with more HP, or torque or whatever, really won't make much of a difference to me. A Honda product, I can trust and, apparently since the used resale value of Honda (bike or car) is generally higher than other brands, I think the general public believes that too.

so i appriciate everyones help, and yes i finnaly got my bike running and it ran like a champion, had it to 180mph and it still wasnt redlined yet!!, so i was riding my bike the other day and for sum dumbass reason i thought i was in control over it really good that day. so i stupidly tried to pull a wheelie.... well i got the wheelie and a little more. It came up so fast my legs got thrown off so there was no chance of me bring it back down with the rear brake. it came out from under me at about 50,. as i finnaly slid to a stop i looked up and saw my bike still up on one and it finnaly came down on the right side. plastic is not so pretty as far as the tail. the thing that got "broke" was the front of the bike. my forks still seem to be good but my WHOLE right throttle grip(handle bar) is broken off and is only still hanging on cuz of all the cables hooked up to that side, i dont have a starter button anymore or engine kill switch, that whole piece is trashed.
how bad is that, and how much would that cost for that piece????, sorry guys!, but more important sorry girl!!!

Need an update on the fork swap for a 98 900rr!

Hello all, I realize this issue has been talked about numerous times but, I also realize that times change and so do parts.

I just recently purchased my old 98 900rr back to rebuild it after the person who I sold it to wrecked it. It still runs great and I actually plan on using it for a track bike.

After having spent numerous nights reading forums, doing web searches, trying to dig up the easiest way to convert over to a inverted fork and a 17" front wheel...... I am finally at a loss. Just when I think I get close, I read another article or thread that completely states the opposite.

What is the easiest route to go? Will a 1000RR front end bolt up directly if I use the Triples and the front wheel and forks? I am looking for the easiest and best route.... I am just now getting into working on my own bikes. If I don't have to shave this.. or cut that... or get parts off 5 different bikes the happier I would be.

Any suggestions?

Edit: If anyone can post a link to the most recent thread on this issue, it would be most helpful. The last one I found was over 3 years ago. Thanx.

Thanks in advance for any good advice.

I just bought a 2001 cbr 929 and it smokes everyday when I start it until it warms up. The smoke is white and pretty moderate. I checked coolant(no oil), oil(no coolant), and FPR. The exhaust is not sweet and just smells like how exhaust should smell. When the bike warms up it doesn't smoke at all even when riding.I'm pretty stumped. Thanks in advance

Hey guys,

I have come across a problem with my 95 Aus CBR900RR.

riding along and it started feeling like it was starving of fuel, like when it starts coughing before switching to reserve. then it would completely die, i would pull over to the side of the road let it sit for 20 or so seconds crank for a bit and it would fire back to life. this happened about 4-5 times in a 10 km stretch.

I assumed it would be a fuel pump problem so i started it up checked charging voltage at the battery and it was 13.8V. unplugged the pump and checked the voltage at idle and it was around 15.8 and peaked at 16 volts. Plugged it back in and probed the back of the plug and got about 9.6 volts at idle.

so i am thinking this will be causing the pump to heat up and stop working, the weather has been very warm here.

any one experienced this problem before? a couple of terminals on the reg rec look a bit burnt but i find it strange that its still?

some help would be appreciated.

929 rusty fuel tank?

Hey guys.

My bike has been running a bit average just recently, so I decided to do the fuel filter(never been changed, 55,000km's).

When I pulled the pump out, I found the fuel was terrible!!! It was a dark brown colour, and probably half of the remaining fuel after i drained it was water!!!

After looking closer, I found that most of the tank was covered with surface rust. I decided to get in there with a rag & scouring pad which removed nearly all of it. It was disgusting!

Is this a common thing with 929's(or older bikes in general?)

Rinsed the tank several times with fresh fuel before re-assembling it, and found that I forgot to get some crush washers for the fuel rail hose. DOH! I used the existing ones, and it doesn't appear to be leaking under pressure, but should I really replace them anyway? :idunno:

Had a bad day!
