2003 CBR 954rr, purchased NEW in July 04.
-Black/Red
-Fender elimnator w/ clear signals and led license plate light
-Vortex frame sliders
-Tank protector
-3,855 miles.
-Adult owned, never down, hasn't even been on a track yet

The bike is in excellent condition. Pictures taken 3 AUG 05.

This machine is CLEAN. The local dealer here sold an '02 with more miles for the same price. I'm even under NADA.

When I sold my 929 (with around 10K worth of extras and all of the original "never used for 1 mile" parts), it took about 2 months and 2 price "adjustments". The buyer was exactly the right person for the sale, but I posted it on AMA Racing and it still took 3 weeks before I had a serious looker.

You absolutely cannot compare your situation to something that happened at the dealer. The buyer of that bike was either ill-informed, or a punk-ass kid with shitty credit that they financed at 29.99% with payments of $179.99 per month for 60 months with a balloon payment of $7999.99 due in 5 years...or both.

I am not basing solely on the dealer. 6,995 is well below NADA and Kelly Blue Book, AND it has less than 4k on the clock. That thrown in with the fact that you can't buy a 600 here for anywhere near that should make the bike a good value to the right buyer.

Thanks for the suggestion of cycletrader, but it hasn't drawn any serious buyers. Cycletrader has provided me with plenty of scam emails from England though.

I understood your point and agree with you. However, I live in a strange area. The local Honda dealer gouges people all the time (mostly kids from the base) and sells everything he has. Between my father, father-in-law, and myself, we've purchased 5 Hondas over the past 3yrs and none were bought locally. I've given him a shot each time, and wound up walking. The price was close to $2,000 too high EVERY time!

Eventually the right buyer will see the bike and get a great machine at a price well below what he/she'd have to pay here in town.

It would still be a haul for you, but I'm planning on making a trip to The Dragon this summer. I could trailer two bikes down and leave with one.

Deal fell through.

After various emails asking me to come down a few hundred dollars to help him afford the bike, insurance, and driving distance, in addition to a final request to falsify the bill of sale to avoid about $200 in taxes (which I declined) the buyer says he's going to buy a leftover 1000RR b/c the price won't be that much different.

I think he forgot that he'll still have to pay tax on the new 1k.

At his insistance, I even spent my lunch hour going to get the title, taking a picture of it, and emailing it to him so he could verify it was a clean one .

When you listed it with cycletrader, did you just do the internet thing or do you have a pic of it in the local publication?

I ask because that's who I used to sell my 929. I paid extra for a larger picture, they forgot to run the picture in the first issue!! And here's the kicker, I ended up selling it within 2 days without the damn pic that I paid extra for! Someone called, came out the next evening to take a look, then came with the cash the following day. I'm sure I got lucky, I think everyone's right, it usually takes at least a month.

It's going to do one run on the cycletrader website and one run in the local paper. I'm not going to keep dumping money into trying to sell it b/c I'm already very low on price and that just cuts into what I'd hoped to get out of it.

$6,795 for a VERY CLEAN and well cared for 2003 CBR 954RR. Fabbri DB Screen and Factory Manual still included for .ORG members or our friends.

Bike now has 3,891 miles on it.
