Advertising on e-bay.

Ok, lets get down to it. I am in search of a way to advertise my e-bay listings, I'm not trying to spam you people, just get some advise. I had the unfortunate luck of selling a PS3 recently and recieved one bid for it. I broke even but barely. I had better luck selling the Wii that I had, but still. I've also been sitting on about 60 circuit breakers in my e-bay store with minimal results. I see all these people "making a living" and being power sellers on e-bay. What are these people doing to get that much traffic to their auctions? I guess I just don't get it (Aside from having 'desirable stuff' to sell).

My wife is a scrapbooker at heart and recently she was browsing e-bay and found premade layouts for sale, so she decided to give it a try. Here are the links, tell me what you think:

eBay: 2-12x12 Layouts - TOOTH FAIRY - TONS of EMBELLISHMENTS (item 170067116412 end time Jan-08-07 18:00:25 PST)

eBay: 2-12x12 Layouts - THE ZOO - TONS of EMBELLISHMENTS (item 170067127700 end time Jan-08-07 18:31:50 PST)

eBay: 2-12x12 Layouts - Winter Wonderland **EMBELLISHMENTS** (item 170067133205 end time Jan-08-07 18:48:59 PST)

To all you power-sellers out there I'm looking for some help. How do you people advertise your stuff, or is it merely by luck that you get lots of traffic/bids?

I'm not an expert, but if the stuff related to your wife auctions are scrapbooking related she may want to have those types of keywords in the title and description? I saw scrapbook in the description, but not the title. Also throw in scrap-book, scrap book, scrapbooking, photo album, etc. Keywords are the way I find anything on ebay.

Where does one spam the title. I wouldn't want to get banned from here.

As in spam the title of your auctions on ebay

People find auctions thru keywords. So put up any keywords that might relate to what you are selling.

Thanks for the tips guys keep them coming. Do we have any Power sellers here? If so, how do you guys do it? I don't understand how you can possibly make a living off e-bay.

The problem is finding these at a price that is lower than what they go for already on ebay. I've looked without much luck.

Re: Advertising on e-bay.

Relevant key words in the title and description are necessary for ebay's search engine to lead people to what you are selling. A nice, clean and informative ebay page will also help. You need to figure out what your reserve price is going to be (the absolute lowest price you'd willingly accept) and then stick with it. Set your reserve or buy it now too high and people will look elsewhere.
Ebay offers options to help promote your listings but it costs extra...you have to determine if it is worth the cost.
Keep in mind that the powersellers are selling much more because of their feedback ratings. If you have few feedbacks, selling will be more difficult. It takes time to build up.
Also, do not throw in misleading keywords. If you're selling a CBR1000RR don't include Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, etc etc. Ebay will shut it down.
