Hey. Do you think you could fit a 190/55 under this hugger, I had to chop my last one to fit a 55. Thanks

I cant say for sure because I dont have the bike here. If you want to PM me your email address, I can send some pictures showing it on the bike. It looks like there is room but I dont know how much bigger the 190/55 is.

does the hugger stop most of the mud from getting to the undertail?

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

You still get some splatter on the under tail, it does a better job of keeping your shock clean. I put it on because I had an Ohlins shock and the Carbon Fiber looked great!

Interested in the hugger.

Is that Caffe Mokador a decal that can be easily removed? And I'm assuming you had it on the bike with a 190/50?

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

Yes, the decal can be easily removed. The tire was a 190/50 and there were no concerns with it rubbing on the hugger.

Not looking to threadjack, but just wanted to throw in that the Gilles chain adjusters for the 929 will also work on the 954 and the RC-51 (for the RC-51 as long as you still have the spacer that came with the original package). I've got them on my 954 in black and everyone I know loves the way they look, and I love how easy it makes to adjust the chain.

Thanks Z !

I will buying a set for my ZX10 as well, I think they provide better accuracy and fine tuning then the stock adjusters.

How does the ZX10 compare to your modded 929?

Have you been modding your zx10 as well?

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

Its still early but I prefer the 929 for handling and the ZX10 for outright power. I had the 929 since new and have put over 60,000km on her so I am very familiar with it.
So far the ZX10 has been fun and I'm sure the mods will come but I dont think I'll go quite as nuts as I did with the 929. So far, an Ohlins shock, CRG levers and a double bubble is all I have added. I would love to put on PVM rims and maybe a slip on, velocity stacks, PC111.......dont get me started!

By the way,

Hugger is SOLD
Gilles Chain Adj SOLD

Galfer rear wave rotor is still up for grabs,

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

So even with all of your mods on the 929 the zx10 is still quicker?

What were your 929 mods to go quicker? velocity stacks, pcIII, full exhuast, dyno tune?, accelerator pump mod for pcIII, flapper mod?

What was the HP of your 929 after all the mods?

I know honda gal was getting 146hp with a full exhaust, pcIII and custom dyno tune.

The zx10 is about 160HP stock? How much does it weigh?

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

I had as much chassis mods as engine improvements done. Full Hindle w/14" X2.25" can, BMC,PC111,custom map, full air box mod, moriwaki cams,Barnett clutch springs, velocity stacks,954 throttle bodies, 520 chain.
One of the biggest improvements was the PVM Rims w/ wave rotors (also the most expensive). You can feel the difference in acceleration, turning, stopping! The list goes on and on. Every year there were improvements made to make it lighter, faster and prettier. I love the what the SharkSkinz body with the "HondaPons West" paint job did, everyone asks what kind of bike it is.
Attack rearsets and Triple clamps, LSL clip-ons etc etc etc.

The bike is on consignment in Calgary at Redline Motorsports. Some of the add ons have been removed and sold but she still has the majority of what I have put on (PVM, Attack, Hindle etc).

I am on CGP as snipes! I had the bike listed there as well under my buddy "Engine Guy", are you here in Airdrie?

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

So what was your final HP on the custom tune?

Did you do all of the mods seperately?

How much difference did the cams make? How much did they cost?

What did the 954 throttle bodies do for you?

So my questions is, after all of the those mods the stock ZX10 is still quicker?

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

Final HP was 146, that was the last of three seperate dyno's over the years. It started at 128, then 135, and finally 146. The cams helped the top end but really left a hole between 5K and 6Krpm. Once past 6K, it was like a switch!
I had no problem keeping up with the guys on the newer 1000's but in a straight line roll on, the 1000 would typically gain a few bike lenghts and stay there, they have a torque and HP advantage! Seat of my pants, the ZX10 would easily do the same. In the twisties though, I think I could do far better on the 929 then the ZX10. But alot of that was due to the rims and Ohlins etc.
The 929 is lighter from stock compared to a 2007 stock ZX10.
My 929 was about 28 lbs lighter then stock (rims, bodywork, Hindle).
I loved my 929 and what I did to it, but after 7 seasons on her, I was ready to move on. The ZX10 is my third Kawasaki, (95'zx9r, 98'zx9r), I am looking forward to a long relationship with her as well!

Right on, Redline seems like a really good company and does good business. I saw the add from Engine Guy and I was suprised that no-one bit as the 929 is a very strong bike and a little rare around these parts.
I am in Calgary just on the North end of town. I have a red white and blue 929. I am roughneckin on CGP too.

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

A buddie of mine mentioned Redline to me, they have a very nice shop and some very friendly staff. I was happy to leave my 929 there, I think the exposure will help it sell. Richard was very helpful. I expect to take the ZX10 there for some Dyno tuning, they have very competitve pricing and appear to have decent customer service.
I have always liked the color scheem of your bike, probably the nicest stock color for the 929 although....the Black and white on mine is aces
Its a small world Roughneckin, maybe I'll see you out in Bragg Creek one day!
Ride safe,

Can you put up pics of your 929 or a link to the pics. I haven't seen it yet.

How long did the postal service say to deliver the damper to IL?

Hey Curt,

if you click on the "Gallery" tab , there is a picture of my bike. This forum limits the number of Pictures allowed and I am at my limit when you include the "for sale" stuff.
I checked the tracking number and your package is in the US now. I sent it Xpresspost which is typically 6 days or less and it left here July 14.

I can send you more pics if you want to PM me your email,

Wes

I love the color scheme.

How much was the paint job? What did they do to paint it? How many layers of paint and layers of clear coat?

Did you have the tank repainted to eliminate the big honda wing stripes then?

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

Paint, decals and 3M set me back about $1000.
The sharkskin fairing was new so there was very little prep required. Not sure how many coats of the color but after the decals were applied (took me 4 hours), there was two layers of clear. Once everything was put back together, I had the bike 3Med to protet the paint.
Tank was sanded and painted at the same time.

Re: CBR929 Rear C/F hugger, rear wave rotor, gilles chain adj.

Exactly. It's like a clear sticker that alot of people use on their vehicles, typically along the front of the hood. It helps protect against rock chips etc.

Automotive Shops that do window tinting often offer this service as well.

Wes, I received the hugger, preload and chain adjusters in the mail yesterday.

Well-packaged and in great condition! The stuff looks great, thanks for sending it so quick!

For anyone reading the thread, Snipes is great to deal with and a good seller, don't hesitate to do a deal with him.
