| Re: Beware of scammer!! **chasesdaddy01** Just did a recall form with the post office...cost another 17.50. Package was in Stockton, Calif. I will post pics of forks and invoices from all involved including Ohlins, post office and our shop when forks arrive back. Just for information to all reading..they told me to do Registered mail next time on high dollar items...its a little more expensive, but goes hand to hand through the mail system to wherever its going. Here is the number I called 800-275-8777.....from zip 19512 to 95826...ask how long it takes a large package to go 2777 miles ground. As I said I will post up all info shortly. I will also have tracking on the return which I will post. |

Ask chase what I told him. It was almost 3 weeks with no news about my products and he had my $3000. I do want em. | Re: Beware of scammer!! **chasesdaddy01** I just wanted to share my experiences with chasesdaddy01. I first want to start out by saying I hate judging people, or potentially putting a cloud over their head, but as a person who likes to purchase from other riders and people directly versus ebay and other third party services, I think it is important to drive the point that both buyers and sellers need to always make sure their communication is detailed, and through. I have so far purchased three items from the forums, and unfortunately have had minor issues with every one. Meanwhile, I have been an active ebay member for several years, and as a buyer and seller have achieved and maintained 100 percent positive feedback. In the 100 some odd transactions I have completed, in only two cases have I ever had an issue. Both times I was the purchaser, and both times ebay and paypal sided with me. I believe the reason I have had less luck on these forums is because third party selling platforms provide a very straightforward, formalized process. The seller has a good basic template to start with, versus forums which generally are not as feature or content rich. I think jsut because of the inherent competition on ebay sellers are naturally more compelled to issue more details about their items. I do not believe in any of the instances that I dealt with individuals on these forums that they were trying to scam me. I simply think that in all of these transactions there was a lack of communication on both sides, my and the sellers part. Some times that lack of communication was evenly distributed, and sometimes it was not. Luckily, all of the issues I had were always resolved, and in a favorable manner for both of us. As I said, I think these were just honest people the same as me. They just may have made simple mistakes, or not understood what my expectations for the part was, and vice versa. Being as all of that has been said, when chasesdaddy01 messaged me about my wanted post for a sprocket, I figured I would try my best to state as clearly as possible what I needed, and ensure that we were both on the same level. I am not sure whether you would agree, but I think I tried to do just as such. I wanted to post our convo and let you be the judge. I consider the ability to resolve disputes and misunderstandings the essential factor of having successful trade in this type of format, and I just don’t feel that doing business with chasesdaddy01 would work out well in the case that we had an issue judging from the convo. Keep in mind, I am not trying to bash anyone directly, or incite that he is a scammer in any way. I am sure he has a legitimate business, and obviously is pretty successful if he has been running it for such a long time. However, in this type of trade communication and understanding is a must: chasesdaddy01 I have an almost new sprocket laying around...both sizes...let me know which you want..30.00 to your door Me: Awesome. What kind of sprockets are they? Ideally I am looking for a 45t one. They are both 530 pitch yes? shoot me your paypal email as well please. Thanks -Ron chasesdaddy01 they are OEM honda taken off of almost new bikes...paypal is xxxx@hotmail.com Ok.. as long as they will fit a 954.. I wasn't aware OEM sprockets were 45 teeth... I thought they came stock with 42 and 43 only.. honda made different sizes for different bike as they are all interchangable..929,954,1000rr...if you want an aftermarket like a renthal, I can do that too and save you some cash..I own a bike shop. There are also kits avail for your bike where you get both sprocket and chain(you pick sizes) for like 160-190 bucks. Call xxx-xxx-xxxx anytime Me Ok, I just was not certain if other years fit the bike. If its a steel 530 pitch 45t rear that will fit a 954 thats all i need. Just because I am trying to get the riding in before it gets too cold. I know you cant control shipping time, but about how long will it take you to ship the sprocket? Sorry to be so anal, but I like to make sure we are both on the same page. most of the buying selling issues come from miscommunication chasesdaddy01 I can get it there as fast as you want to pay for the shipping, also I have found in my 15yrs in this industry that miscommunication comes from not calling someone to talk things thru when they provide you with a phone number..its easier to work things thru rather than PMing back and forth. You seem like you want this part quickly and we have already wasted 4 days or so typing back and forth Me Well Actually, I am trying to get the best deal for the money versus getting one asap. If time was such a factor, I would have paid premium price and had it sent the second I needed it from ebay or some other source. I was trying to imply moreso that although I know shipping time can not be controlled, I wanted to see how long it may take for you to send me the actual part, as I am sure having a bike shop you have a lot of other things to attend to. I would expect one to understand the excess messages exchanged are due to the inherent risk of dealing with someone online with no real base of protection. I have found in my experiences that generally messages are the best way to work out the core details, because it leaves little room for he said she said in the event a problem occurs, versus a phone where there is 1. no record and 2. mis-communication is more prone to happen.

Originally Posted by steingar It takes a special kind of stupid to ship a $3K something sans tracking, registration, or insurance. Want proof? Just read this dumb sh!t thread. | Sorry to keep this thread going but I am a newb here (just picked up a 2002 954RR). I have been venturing into threads to learn more about the FireBlade community.
I have spent countless hours researching, buying and selling on many other forums connected to motocross and PWC racing.
I hate to see people scammed or shafted financially when buying or selling. But the number one rule when shipping ANYTHING is to use some sort of tracking. I do it on items that cost as little as $10 just because I know the buyer gets the piece of mind and has something concrete to follow the shipping process. It is an easy step to show some good faith as a seller.
Now this thread...however much a waste of time it was to read sets forth a huge point in how important communication and trust is.
Being a new member, I want to be able to buy/sell items on FireBlades.org.
So my question that I hope someone can answer is: I want to know why no tracking number was posted?
Any business owner doing legitimate business knows without a doubt that you do not ship items with an approx. value of $3000 dollars without both shipping insurance and a tracking ID. Both of which can be tracked from point of sale to destination. Simple, Easy and Cheap insurance for both parties! This is just plain common sense!
If this wasn't done then biggking had every right to question his purchase as it stinks horrendously. Ohlins would never have shipped those forks without the above mentioned information. Why? Because they are a quality company doing quality business. So why would anyone else in this business so long and knowing the hassles of potential loss or damage to a $3000 item not do the same for a customer? |
