| Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad The last few pieces of my gear arrived tonight (boots and a back protector) - so I excitedly try everything on (you can well imagine how I must have looked in my skivies wearing my new boots and a back protector...wonder why my neighbors don't talk to me? )
Anyway, I'm now late for my softball game and hurrying to get there. In the process I hopped on the throttle to go through a yellow light - not seeing the police car parked in the turn lane until far too late. Presto I'm getting pulled over. Interestingly he said "Thanks for pulling over, alot of sportbikes make a run for it"?!?!? To which I jokingly replied "I may be faster than your cruiser...but not your radio". Fortunately he had a sense of humor and didn't ticket me. Has anyone here actually tried to make a break for it? I'm really curious...cause that's a special kind of stupid.

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad I run from the canaries all the time. At least twice a week during riding season. I like to think I'm helping them train. They should appreciate my efforts cuz it's free, afterall. I even took a photo of my carport when it was empty and made up this giant background sheet so I can quickly pull in and it looks like nobody's home from the street. Stupid po-po. |

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad yup, and the only way to do it properly is to pop a 12 o'clock as soon as you see the pig, this way he won't be able to see your plate number as you go by at 180!
Seriously, no amount of money from a ticket is worth risking my life by trying to run. Plus I'm one of the few left who actually respect most law enforcement!! |

The individual officers are hit or miss as far as respect goes.. |

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad Well, as a FF/EMT I work with most of the police around here and I personally know most of the others anyway. I guess I just haven't had a bad experience yet. Even Mass state police, whom I don't personally know, have been nothing but professional on the few occasions I've had to meet them!! |

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad Nope, I actually run with Ashburnham Fire/EMS. Gardner has a private ambulance service and I didn't really want to work for them so I went to the next town over! I'm not full time Firefighter, just call!

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad I once ran from a cop. I was heading home @ 2 am on an empty highway and passed a speed trap 1 traffic light before my turn. I was going 100 mph or so, so I just continued on my pace, made a few extra turns and pulled into my garage. The next weekend my brother asked where I dissapeared to, In my defense, I knew he was on duty and working that part of town, |

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad I outrun the same 3 police officers at least 6 times a year. Before Chain get's his panties in a bunch, I should point out that this is on the racetrack and I just happen to be a smidge faster than any of them at our home track.

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad 4 wks ago I had a local squid run from our agency and 2 others. I lost him on the highway when we got into town. Like it was posted earlier, you can't outrun radio's. Myself and 2 other deputies were waiting for him at his grandparent's house. He now has a felony conviction because of this and is sentenced to 180 days in jail, as well as various traffic stuff. Oh, and the judge forfeited his brand new GSXR-750.
Darn.

| Re: Sorry officier...didn't see you there...my bad I ran like hell one night about 300 yards from my house. I passed a State Trooper in a Z28 Camaro running about 70 in a 45 and he does a 180 behind me. Like I said, I was about 300 yards from where I turn to enter my subdivision and I thought I could zip into the hood without him seeing me and he would fly by. Well I got slowed by this POS truck that was turning 1 road down from my subdivision and the Z28 was closing in fast. I dont know what I was thinking but I went around the truck on the shoulder of the road and then "nailed it". I had 2 slight curves and then about a 1 mile straight. Im thinking I will just get on the straight and open it up and dust the trooper, then wait till he goes by and then go back home. WRONG! I hit about 160+ and the Z28 was still within 100 yards of me. It took what seemed like 20-30 minutes to loose him but after closer thought it was more like 3-5 minutes tops. Lesson learned: If I am positive that I can just make a turn off or 2 without riding like a fool or endangering others I would do it again, but if its gonna require high speeds and several miles of it then I will yield to the officer and pull over. OH, if you have a 600 and a Z28 gets behind you and you just have long straight road go ahead and pull over cuz you wont shake him. |
