Decent setup for '98 Blade

Hey duders,
Im looking for some info on where to start with setting up my bike to be a little more friendly on the road. I have the settings out of the Sports Rider mag, but am reluctant to give these a try as my commute takes in very few racetracks I need some basic setup info for 85-90kg rider who uses his bike to commute on so-so roads, and hits the hills most weekends on roads that vary from perfect hotmix to goat tracks(do the make knobbies in 16 inch? ) HELP MEEEEE PLEEEEEEEASE!!! Workshops only wanna give me help as long as they can charge me $66 an hours to turn the screws for me

Re: Decent setup for '98 Blade

From past experience with the 900RR suspension I would have to say look for aftermarket alternatives. I loved everything about my 900 except the suspension. The best things I did for that bike were suspension related. On all three of my 900's I changed the rear shock. I had a Fox, Ohlins, and Penske. If you go on Ebay I bet you can find a used shock for your bike reletively cheap. As for the front, shim the springs (10 to 15mm) and put good oil in.(5 wt.) That is easy and won't cost much. You can use plastic PVC pipe for the shim.

Good luck...
