| What a beautiful ride today! A beautiful spring day today in Idaho, so I decided to take one of my favorite rides. A twisty, absolutely gorgeous nearby highway that was uncrowded and fun. On the way up I went nice and fast but on the way back I stopped to take a few pics. I think you'll really like them! Pic One Pic Two Pic Three Pic Four Pic Five Pic Six Last One

| Re: What a beautiful ride today! Lovely shots & terrain a bit like ours up in the mtn areas of centeral B.C. Cdn. Like you I really enjoyed the day, though also clocked 7 hrs on my 600r Yamaha on thursday & just 5 hrs on the 929 for I have to take it easy when riding on a Saturday due to more cops & an increase in traffic.
Mind you I just about melted for it was a hair over 70F by the time I got home & will need to trim down what I wear under my gear next time, for I think Spring is finally here.

I have to ride about two hours just to get into some fun curvies, and the scenery along the way is mostly fields, prairie and contented cows. In a way, I'm sorta glad I have very little twisty sections of roads, for I fear if I had to ride through your type of terrain, I would soon be a statistic. Gotta keep your eye on the road, donchaknow! I don't know how you do it!?
Yes, very nice pics, and thanks for sharing them. |

| Re: What a beautiful ride today! Bacchy, I am sorrounded by snow capped mountains. Step outside on the porch and see blue sky and snowy peaked mountains, it's beautiful.
The snow isn't completely gone from my view until at least June.

Is that the river we rafted together? | Yep, there's still some snow up toward Cascade. And that is the same river, although it's the main fork, where we did the south fork. Get that Fireblade up here so we can take a ride along there together, dang it! |

| Re: What a beautiful ride today! Awesome pictures! Very similiar scenery to what I saw in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. These types of rides help me clear my head. What elevation is that at? In Colorado, we averaged 9000 feet, and at that height, the ol' 954 was acting more like the ol' 600. |

Yes, very nice pics, and thanks for sharing them. | Hey maxib, Yeah the roads around here are so boring, don't you just love living in the flattest place on earth Where in minnesota do you live and which "curvies" are you talking about... |

| Re: What a beautiful ride today! Pharmer954...
Rios929...I'm in Mankato, MN. Other than on/off ramps, I have to ride to southwest Wisconsin for good roads. I could ride around lakes, but there is no elevation change with that, and locally I'm still not close to lake country. However, I probably have it a lot better than you. My condolences bud At least I see a tree every 25 miles, you ride on a billiard table.
Back to the topic.
bwhip, I looked again at your pics, and you are truly blessed with that scenery. However, I have to ask something. Those roads and scenery could possibly be a two edged sword correct? I mean, don't those mountain roads where you live have the same natural vacuum effect that sucks every Winnebago on the planet to your area at first snow melt just like every other nice place I've ever been????
Yeah rios, we can be thankful that we don't have 15 'bago lines 10 under to deal with! |

If you were to go north on Friday evening, or south on Sunday afternoon, you wouldn't have a lot of riding fun. Holiday weekends are also a little rough. But yesterday (Saturday) late afternoon, I was actually standing in the middle of the highway while taking most of those pictures (carefully), and the traffic was very light. I worry more about deer along that route than other vehicles - or like you said before, you've got to be careful to keep watching the road when you're tempted to keep looking at the scenery. |

| Re: What a beautiful ride today! I almost started crying looking at these shots. What was I thinking when I moved to Michigan? I used to ride in the mountains at least 3 times a week and have probably done every windy road in Utah, Colorado, Arizona and California, along with some breathtaking views on some straight roads as well (Highway 50 anyone?).
I need a vacation damnit! |

| Re: What a beautiful ride today! Abtech, highway 50 in Colorado? I rode this highway last year in our "tour of Colorado". Know exactly what you are talking about! Most fun I've had on 2 wheels (with my clothes on). We are doing another trip in June 16-20th covering south/central Colorado probably covering alot of highway 50 again. Thanks for the memories. |

Thanks for the memories. | Actually, Highway 50 in Colorado is fairly interesting, while Highway 50 through Nevada and Utah is known as "The Loneliest Road in America" as there are several stretches without any type of human touch (no gas stations, hotels, resturants, houses or anything) exceeding 200 miles between well, between anything . . . Highway 50 More Highway 50
I went to school in Utah and burned up every road I could find (and several adjoining states as well), and I must say, I really miss the area.

| Re: What a beautiful ride today! Not a problem! Besides, you can make fun of me walking hunched over in pain at the end of a day on the 954. But I'm serious here, I am going to explore the possibilities of pulling something off like this. But you are a bizillion miles away, in Michigan! |
