This may be blasphemy, but . . .

Last weekend I had a blast. What made it unusual, was that I was at a Harley dealership. I and my friend Ron, led people on 25 minute demo rides of Buells and other Harley's. The route was around ten to fifteen miles with an assortment of curves and highway riding. On occassion, I rode my 954, but for the majority of the time, I rode a Buell XB9S. This bike was a load of fun. Mind you it is not a dominating track machine, but it is extremely light and has a short wheelbase. As a result, it corners very easily . . . and that is what made it so much fun. I'm sure you have all had those moments where you are riding and laughing at the same time because your having TOO much fun. Well, that was me. I was pleasantly surprised by the bike's agility. So much so, that I want to add a Buell to my stable this winter.

The bike I rode had Buell's "race" muffler and ECM chip . . . in other words it made only around 90 horses. The only other down side was the placement of the mirrors interfered with the handling of the bike. If you can have two bikes, I think this bike should be one of them. It was a totally different experience . . . and change is good . . . I think.

Buells are great! Their customer service is so good that they periodically recall all their bikes to put new parts on! Won't find Mother Honda giving you that deal!

I rode a Buell and my experience was the 180 degree opposite of yours. I thought it was the most dismal and pathetic excuse for a sportbike I have ever ridden ... and I even own a Harley.

HUGE difference between the old tube frames and the XB's. The tube frames were put out on the market with next to no testing and the XB's were extensively tested, party due to H-D's relationship with Ford and the use of their test facilities.

Comapring an XB to the older Buells is like comparing a 954 to a CX500.
