| Ebay question Has anyone on the .org bought a motorcycle off of Ebay? If so,
1. did the transaction go well
2. item bought was in stated condition
3. how did you pay
4. how did you take shipment
5. what carrier did you use to ship and how much was it.
6. would you do this again if you found a good deal
I have used Ebay for several items in the past but not for a great deal of money. I most recent purchase was a poster of a 954 from a honda dealer.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

| Re: Ebay question 1. I've bought tons of stuff with out problems
2. Items have been in good condition: get them to send you pix from different angles is you're buying plastic you need to see every inch and the flash will hide some of the scratches
3. paypal.... i sold a few items too and it's the easiest to go IMO because you can ship UPS from paypal also
4&5??? ? what's I’ve noticed a lot people inflate their shipping cost to make a few extra bucks (and then will ship stuff regular mail and it could take a while (always get a tracking #)
ebay is just like anything else you have to be careful the majority of the people are good but there are always a few dick the give it a bad rap
sorry missed half the question.... i will lean to read ...one day

| Re: Ebay question I bought a crashed bike I converted to track use. 2001 F4i purchased a couple years ago. Bike came with a salvage title and bill of sale. It was from a reputable dealer (I checked all their feedback and any other info ebay provided about the seller). I used PayPal and the seller shipped the bike themselves. If I remember correctly shipping from Arkansas to southcentral Kansas was less than $300.
Be sure to communicate clearly any questions or concerns you may have with the seller and exchange a lot of info before making a BIG purchase. If you are not satisfied with their response don't by.
Also, BE CAREFUL of scams. I've seen a lot of rediculously low buy it now auctions for bikes on ebay recently. Most of them don't list a VIN and mention something about shipping world wide. |

Any info would be greatly appreciated. | I've bought one, and sold two (or was it three?) on eBay.
1. the transaction went smoothly
2. the bike I got wasn't exactly as described, but close enough (the drain plug was torn up and hard as hell to remove)
3. paid the deposit via PayPal, the rest using a cashier's check
4 & 5. the seller boxed up the bike, and delivered it to a ForwardAir terminal; I then went with a buddy to pick up the bike; painless; I've now used them three times
6. yes, I'd do it again, no problem |

| Re: Ebay question Couple more things to toss in:
- nhfirefighter13 probably has as much eBay bike experience as the rest of the board put together, so talk to him
- once you have an auction or two in mind, post the link(s) here, and let the rest of us have a look |

| Re: Ebay question i have sold a bike on ebay.
it turned out to be "local" so I did not have to worry about shipping - i suggest this method as you dont have to worry about payment options - it is cash and carry
I bought 3 bikes off of racing sites with no problems either - i would look here first before ebay - you will get a better deal and usually a better bike with spares. |

| Re: Ebay question My company, The Collectable Trader, has sold over 500 bikes on ebay. There are a huge amount of scams right now, so be careful. Most of it is common sense. Here is a short list of things to look for:
1. Check their feedback. Not foolproof, as there are a lot of account takeovers lately. Look at the items that they are selling. If all of their items have been childrens clothing, and now they suddenly have 5 bikes for sale, stay away.
2. Email the seller. Ask questions. If they are not responsive, be carefull.
3. Call them. You can tell a lot more about the person by listening to the tone of their voice and seeing if they are "real".
4. Never, NEVER send western union cash payments. Guarantee'd scam.
5. Don't buy a bike with very few details. Everybody says their bike is like new (except the driveway tip over, scuff from putting it in the garage, broken lever, and repainted wheels, etc......). Or the ever popular "it looks mint........for it's age.
6. Use common sense. If the price seems way to good to be true, guess what...it is.
7. Email an experienced seller (like us, maybe!?!) and have us take a look at the listing. We want you guys to be safe and continue to use ebay. It is the only place that we sell (we do no retail and have no salespeople) and we hate the scammers as much as your afraid of being ripped off by them.
Here is a link to our current auctions. Open one up and take a look at it. We feel that this is the type of information that you need to make a decision about sending thousands of dollars to somebody you have never met. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...wpics=1&stab=0

You can look me up under the seller name of "napaman" (I owned two NAPA Auto Parts Stores) do need to change the name but let common sense rule! As he said NEVER ever send a money order or cash to pay for anything, I couldn't tell you the times I have opened envelopes to find cash!! What were these folks thinking? (Not)
