| Re: looking for a 2 stroke All I can say is you are in the right state for getting a 2 stroke. I think that you can actually get them licensed in Florida. I think consensus would say get a tz250 or second choice nsr250. Choice based on availability and ability to get parts. |

| Re: looking for a 2 stroke Yay, my first post!
I can say that I was the proud owner of a 96' NSR250SE MC-28, the trick one with the single sided swing arm and keycard ignition. It found it's way under a 4WD... thankfully I bounced over top, but still, back to the topic
I can whole heartedly recommend the NSR250s. From 2 years owning and 5 years following the NSR lists they are the strongest of the 2-stroke 250s. The TZ is a great bike too but I mean why steer away from the nice purdy red hondas? huh? The best place to find them is mostly on ebay or subscribe to the NSR250 list at http://www.micapeak.com/lists/nsr250
The Aprillia RS250 is also a really good bike, making better power than the NSR and has the advantage of being available in english speaking countries, so all the manuals and part listings are available in english. The 125 is ok, but if you are going to get a 2-stroke you might as well go as big as you can get (unless of course you can find a nice YZR500 or RG500R)
Side note, parts for the NSR's are reasonably difficult to get a hold of and if you want something easier to deal with get an RGV.
Hope this helps a little bit

| Re: looking for a 2 stroke I agree with denied....go the NSR....have been around strokers for a few years and found NSR's to be the best of the bunch.
The quickest and most reliable.
Mine has had the most minor amount of porting and will now see off an RS-250 in a straight line. As for round corners, well, that all comes down to the rider and bike set-up, and I doubt my 90kg frame was ever going to be 2 stroke friendly
My NSR remains the most satisfiying and enjoyable and frustrating bike ive ever ridden!! |

| Re: looking for a 2 stroke I've seen Yz490's licensed for the road in CA. For the Laguna weekend you'll see 2 smokers all over. It is possible, I don't know how or who you have to know, but if you can do it in CA, it is possible anywhere. |

| Re: looking for a 2 stroke go with the NSR...reliable, easy to get parts as well as lots of go fast goodies. I owned 92 NSR250SE dry clutch ...good power..light as hell. If you decide on an NSR...go with the MC21 vs the MC28 (card programmed)...the MC21 is easier to get power out of. |

It's causing a PITA in the Duel Sport community since nobody wants the heavy "duelsport" models offered by the manufacturers. Needless to say, the duelsport ride I went on last weekend, I saw alot of Arizona Plates...and I doubt the are from arizona |

My NSR was lucky to be making around 47-50hp with the restricted keycard and some slip-on exhausts. I had quite alot of custom body work and trick bits... but alas they did not stand up to the might of a 4wd.
For trick up parts for the NSRs the people you want to talk to are Tyga in thailand, I have dealt with them extensively and Matt and Paul are really really nice guys with a plethora of knowledge about these 2-smoke nasties!
I know of quite a few people in California that have managed to get the NSR titled. Though that said I know that it is a difficult task and is definitely not guaranteed to be successful. Again I would suggest checking out the NSR list I gave earlier for this type of stuff as plenty of people have gone through those hoops before.
I might post up some photos of my NSR before it had it's little mishap and will jam up some fotos of my 'blade too.
Good luck with the 2-stroke search!
