| 1000rr vs 10r Dynos Hey Sook.....I saw on your website you finally got a ZX10r on the Dyno. Reckon you could do an overlay of the chart compared to the 1000rr ?.......stock and with the Arata ?
I've not seen a comparison from an " independant " source yet ! |

It's just stock figures. Let me know, and I'll get the Arata mapped figures up as well.

| Re: 1000rr vs 10r Dynos Thanks mate.....pretty impressive.....though the R1 gets spanked all the way up to the redline ( of the other bikes )......I'm kinda surprised that the peak torque of the r1 is so high too. The 10r and 1000rr look much nicer |

| Re: 1000rr vs 10r Dynos Yep. Regardless of peak h.p figures, the Blade is the nicest bike to ride by far. The ZX10 was better than I though it would be though. I think the 10's biggest let down is the chassis, not the motor. But R1? Light switch. |

| Re: 1000rr vs 10r Dynos Well.....having written off the R1 a while ago, it was between the 1000rr and the 10r. I have ridden both extensively, and I decided to go with the 10r. There were a few reasons behind this:
Although the 1000rr is by far the nicer bike to ride on the road, I don't really do that much road riding anymore. On track I found the 10r to be much more at home.....though a little flighty ( steering damper and some suspension tweaking fixes this ). The Blade was very fast, as I said after the Bladeburn, but the 10r was faster. On top of this the character of the Kawa made the entire experience more fun......I know a lot has been said for the Honda's ability to go fast without feeling like it......and that's fine if it's your cup of tea.....but I just enjoy myself more when the bike makes it involving for me......something the Blade did not.
I still plan to do the same mods on the 10r as I would have done on the Blade ( indeed I didn't want to ride the thing without a damper so the shop I bought it from did me a great deal on one ).....but I just think the starting point is that little bit higher on the Kawasaki.....at least, for track riding.
Don't all hate me because I have switched to the dark side now !! |

| Re: 1000rr vs 10r Dynos Seems a lot of folks, especially track mavens, like the 1000RR but when compared to the 10R they tend to lean towards 10R. And I rarely hear about the R1 or GSXR being chosen over either the 1000RR or 10R. I find it odd though that Honda's and Suzukis are the dominate liter bikes in racing though, MotoGP excluded. What is up with that?

Just a guess mind you. |

Don't all hate me because I have switched to the dark side now !! | I feel ya there, mate! (always wanted to say that! ) anyways, I think I am kinda stuck in that same predicament as well...I really, really like the RR, but I cannot deny that the 10R is awfully tempting...I guess at this stage, I am still leaning towards the RR b/c whether it's a 150hp or 165hp, I probably won't be able to push either to their limits...I really like the trait of the RR being really "rideable" from what I've read, but I am fearing the "no personality" trait as well.....dunno what that means or a 150hp+ bike, but oh well...in any case, both bikes kick major ass....
do you get any buzz thru the bars on the 10R? did you notice any of the Blade? what about ergos? which is better on the wrists? how is the dash during the day? is it readable?
choices, choices, choices.... |

| Re: 1000rr vs 10r Dynos Well, for me.........it is about letting you ride at 100% of your ability. If that's boring to you, then so be it, but to me, while being "involved" is great........I'd rather have the bike do what I want when I want it, rather than spend a day at the track being "involved" with the bike. Especially when guys on CBR1000RR"s round you up and leave you behind, as you wonder off to get suspension mods, dampers, more power etc to try and make up the deficit. But anyway.........hope you enjoy it.
I have an Arata system in stock for the ZX10 if you want one too Mike. Let me know.
As for money etc in racing, I think Oz Superbike is a pretty good indication. They're way more "stock" than other series, and Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki were all out to prove something this year. I heard that Robbie Baird, who's no slouch and not really a crash king by any stretch.....binned the ZX10 18 times this year.............you think they didn't try and get the suspension dialled and have a damper? I don't think (I KNOW) it ain't that simple. Fact is the Blade let Josh and Krusty push it to the limit and pretty much decimate the competition in the first year out whic says something when you think about Giles' GSXR has won for how many years??? and has how many years development??????
Roly (the guy in my avatar) just ran his CBR1K in up the putty on the weekend, and his words were (the bike is still 100% stock) "That is the first time I've ridden a bike and felt like the bike was outriding me........". You know how quick Roly is Mike. |

Yeah...I do know how quick Roly is......they're all quick at that level....and they'd all be quicker than me on ANY of the litre bikes. What professional riders have to say about these bikes really isn't that relevant to me as they ride at a different level......maybe one day I'll get to that level and other factors will come into play when picking a bike to race. If guys end up rounding me up on the new 1000rr then I will take my hat off to them freely admit they are better riders than me. In standard form I was quicker on the 10r than the 1000rr......for ME the 10r is faster ( perhaps it suits my riding style / proportions better ? ) as well as being more enjoyable.
Each to his own.....as I always say. Who am I to tell someone else what bike is better for them ?
For the faster guys......I honestly believe that if you throw a fair whack of money at these bikes that the Honda will be the best......the chassis would be the deciding factor I think.......HOWEVER.......I also believe that you would HAVE to throw the money at the Honda to make it faster than the others on a track.......it costs money to lose that extra few pounds........the others also ( seem to ) have slightly stronger engines ( at least according to The Sook's dyno ) |

But as for money spent etc..........................Josh Brookes had the lap record at the Creek on a CBR929 for a fair while against R1's and GSXr1000's, with way more power...................quick doesn't always mean more h.p. It's all about rideability.................anyway..........which damper did you get? And do you want the Arata for the bike? |

The damper that came with the bike is the Hyperleak.....er....Hyperpro. Actually I had a Hyperpro on the Blade and it was perfectly fine, and the new model looks better again ( got that seperate expansion chamber etc ), so I went for that. It's colour matched to the bike and looks pretty good....though if I have any hassles with it I will not hesitate to replace it with something else.
I think I'll definitely be going for the Arata, though I am not sure when I will get around to it.....I don't seem to be getting much riding in....I've only put 300kms on it over the first 3 weeks ! I need to get through the " break-in" period before I get any mapping done. |

| Re: 1000rr vs 10r Dynos From what I hear he's going ok. I think they thought it'd be better to have him back at full fitness next year (if he's still here) than risk hurting himself again with no chance at the title etc. Honda are doing the Australasian round later in the year, but Josh isn't doing that either as far as I know. |
