| Re: Canyons vs. Track : Part XXXIV I've done both track and street riding.....and prefer the latter (though a trackday is fun).
Nothing beats the the Smokies IMHO. Perfectly manicured ribbons of inky black asphalt, inspiring scenery, great places to eat, friendly people.
Sport touring is where it's at for me! |

| Re: Canyons vs. Track : Part XXXIV you haven't ridden in the Rockies though....
Southwestern BC (as long as it isn't a long weekend)
Sport-touring for me too. No extreme 5000 mile marathons just weekend trips into the mountains. Day trips to Kananaskis country are good too.
But what do I know I just polish and pose. Willy's Hamburger's Thursday nights. |

My folks used to own a home in Estes, so I'm very familar with the area. Matter of fact, my avatar pic was shot just outside Winter Park.
This is purely subjective, but the Rockies feature roads that aren't as well kept as the twisties of Blue Ridge. I'll take Knoxville over Denver any day of the week! |

I really can't say much for the roads in your part of the continent. All of my riding has been done in Alberta and BC. |

Sport touring is where it's at for me! | Any time you'd like to see some of the most beautiful and strange scenery on the planet, as well as sample one of America's best roads (one of only 20 that has earned a certain designation), let me know. |

I'd love to take you up on that offer.

Sport touring is where it's at for me! | You've done 1 trackday. I hardly think you're qualified to even venture a comparison. BTW, I haven't received your entry yet for Grattan .
I like both, although I have "mellowed out" a bit on the street and only have a cross country cruiser for street riding at present. When I think about some of the trips I've made and the accompanying speeds and close calls, I guess the phrase "to become old and wise you must first be young and stupid" is true indeed. |

As for Grattan, I'm waiting to see what the Bitch Goddess Tax Preparer has to tell me in a few days. Between collecting a light pole with my truck a few weeks ago and the spectre of paying the feds an additional couple thou in taxes, I'm on the fence right now.
Maybe I can drive out there and sit around drinking beer for fun if nothing else. |

You're welcome to attend in whatever capacity. |
