| First ride since October Took the blade out for a cruise tonight. It was 10 degrees here today; just warm enough to ride. Stayed on main roads where there aren't any ice patches, kept a sharp eye out for gravel. I had been telling myself that I would wait a few more weeks but I couldn't stand it.
Some observations:
1. My bike felt smaller, lighter and way more powerful than I remember it.
2. COld pavement sucks... Just rolling on the throttle in first or second produced instant wheelspin. And it gets way colder when the sun goes down.
3. I am an impatient squid idiot and should have waited a few more weeks.
It was a nice little fix but I think I'm lucky not to crash. There are still patches scattered around and gravel everywhere. This weekend I'll be in the garage installing my new stainless brake lines and I'll keep her parked until we see 20 degree weather. |

| Re: First ride since October When you think winter is done, it will snow and thaw 2 more times. I'm fully expecting another dump here in calgary before the end of March. We won't be fully free from old man Winter's icy grip until probably mid-late April. Then by the end of August, they'll have almost all of the gravel cleared from the roads. |

| Re: First ride since October I've made a pact w/ a buddy; if it's not snowing on Sunday: we're both getting our bikes out for a ride.
Last year I remember dragging knee at 5degrees... and thinking it was GREAT!... I've just gotta take it EASY. |
