| Finished my annual MSF Recertification today Had a few class sessions, and then today, spent 7 hours on the course on a Buell Blast in 37 deg F rain. What a miserable freekin day.
Anyway, 2 highlights are:
One new recruit asked me while we were gassing up the bikes: Quote: |
Hey Jim, it's been a while for me. What's the gear-shift pattern?
| And this dude wants to be an Instructor? WTF Man?
So I ask him what he rides. He says he's a M/C Cop 7 months of the year, and 40 hours a week on bikes is enough!! I wanted to ask him "What the Hell are you doing here then?"
The other interesting thing is:
Due to a couple of accidents with motorcycle trailers last year causing rider and / or passegner deaths, there is a move by certain Government agencies to ban motorcycle trailers.

| Re: Finished my annual MSF Recertification today my comment is 37 degree rain sucks ass and getting rid of trailers is dumb and people just need to learn to drive with them.

| Re: Finished my annual MSF Recertification today So...what is the shifting pattern?( ) I have to go in tomorrow for a little more schoolin' and then they are getting all of the instructors together for their re-certs in a couple of weeks(first of april I think?)
Sounds like most of the snow is gone if it rained there? or is that just wishful thinking on my part? I am hoping that next week will be the week that I can pick up my bike from the house, but, nothing is in stone yet. |

| Re: Finished my annual MSF Recertification today My question is what kind of recert takes 7 hours on the bike. The recerts I have been doing for the last 13 years have been anywhere from 3-5 hours of discussion and info on new practices which good coaches ALREDY know/do. That's it. The longer recerts are run by the state, they have to justify their jobs so they drag out a bunch of crap when the private providers are years ahead of what they have to say! Thats why we consider them a waste of time. But if they made me ride 7 hours on a Blast! I would shove it up their ass. |

- We have 4 new instructors this year, so the Chief made them run the whole test with two of the returning instructors talking through & demo'ing each exercise.
- There were issues last year with some instructors doing demo's. Some didn't want to do any, and others basically wouldn't allow anyone else on the bikes. So the Chief made ALL instructors run through all exercises and the test.
- There were a couple of issues where the course wasn't set up exactly as per the curriculium. There was actually a complaint by a student who failed the first time through, then when he came back and failed again, he said there were different exercises.

| Re: Finished my annual MSF Recertification today I am hoping that I will be down some time very soon, I got an offer on my house tonight, I dont think that it will materialize into anything major but that's alright, btw if you are selling a house in windsor DO NOT use Carey Smart...he's my agent and he is a pain in the ass, he has not done anything that I have asked and I have always had the feeling he is trying to screw me around...just a heads up.
I will call you for sure if I get a chance to get down there and go for a ride, mind you I don't know how much tread that I have on my tire( ) hopefully, when I come down, I am there for more than a day. |

It isn't as bad as that. Basically, some seniors like to throw in a turn or two here or there to keep the bikes moving instead of waiting to go into 90 deg turns or the compound curve or slaloms, etc. Basically, it makes sense, but the powers that be are afraid of liabilities by teaching something that's not an official approved part of the course.
Capiche??
