Just Seen This In MCN

IN THIS WEEK'S PAPER?[HONDA RECALL]

honda is on the verge of a massive recall of several model's faulty frames and braking systems but honda uk does not want m c n. to reveal which bikes until they 've set up a call center to deal with customer's and that is likely to happen soon. Mind you MCN is always full of shite

Re: Just Seen This In MCN

Well here is the first

Honda Recall

Honda is recalling some CBR600RRs built in 2003 and 2004 to fix a potential problem with the rear brake.

Bearings on the rear brake actuating rod on some bikes can seize if exposed to road salt, possibly leading to the rod snapping and causing the brake to fail.

Honda is writing to owners of affected bikes. If you want to double check, the recall applies to 2003 models with chassis numbers from 3M000001 to 3M000648 and 2004 bikes from 4M100001 to 4M100593.

Re: Just Seen This In MCN

Is MCN just barely getting the news?

Make : HONDA Model : CBR600RR Year : 2003
Manufacturer : AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 04V387000 Recall Date : AUG 03, 2004
Component: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC PEDALS AND LINKAGES
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 22000
Summary:
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE REAR BRAKE LINKAGE IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO CORROSION WHICH CAN CAUSE BINDING AND ROUGH BRAKE OPERATION. AS CORROSION INCREASES, IT CAN CAUSE A STICKING PEDAL OR REQUIRE HIGH BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT.
Consequence:
LINKAGE COULD BREAK RESULTING IN A LOSS OF REAR BRAKE FUNCTION WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SPHERICAL ROD END AND ASSOCIATED PARTS. THIS RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 4, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

This recall was issued here back in August '04.
The Blackbird has a brake recall as well.
