| pc3 and fuel mileage I know this has been discussed(I used the search) but I wanted to get a general consensus of who has gotten better or worse gas mileage with a pc3. I am considering one to help smooth out the fi but I mainly commute and dont want the gas mileage to suffer. The bike is stock except for a d&d bolt on. I will be removing it and installing a hindle that l timbre is selling me. |

| Re: pc3 and fuel mileage I think I got 5 miles less per tankful of gasoline. The loss was insignificant regarding the gain.
Remember the answer to your question will be variable due to several factors. Altitude and barometric pressure, throttle control, driveline status and lubrication all come to mind. Weather conditions e.g. cold vs hot (air density), raining or not. Don't forget tire inflation and how much your...oops sorry, my big fat a$$ lends to wind resistance. Average speed, which way the wind blows, new plugs vs. old, brand of gas, how old the gas, how much ethanol in the gas...all come to mind. So there really is no valid comparison on the street. Possibly in a controlled laboratory situation, but what fun is that?
Bottom line is even at worst, commuting on your bike is the most economical means of transportation (factoring out insurance costs for some folks). Just get the pcIII and enjoy. Even better yet, dyno it with the pcIII. |

| Re: pc3 and fuel mileage I see someone has put some thought into this
I was wanting some i got htis before and got this after, in the same riding enviroments. My 954 gets 39-42 mpg every tank. If I install one and it varys from that I will know. Im not worried about a few miles per tank or gallon. I just dont wont it to be like my r6 and go from 48 to 38 mpg after rejetting. |

| Re: pc3 and fuel mileage Is the Hindle a full system?
If so you may not have a choice in the matter. Although I've heard that some bikes can run fine w/ a hindle full system and no jetting (just heard it, never seen it). Was your R6 FI or carbed? 10mpg sounds like a significant loss. Wish I could be more help but I'd say get the damn thing and enjoy. |

| Re: pc3 and fuel mileage All things being equal, the mileage will depend on the map. If the map's rich, the bike will burn more gas, if it's lean, it'll burn less.
Want to have (nearly) the best of both worlds? Find out what RPM range you cruise in most of the time, and just lean out that region of the map. |

| Re: pc3 and fuel mileage If you lean it out too far, you will actually use more fuel because you will require more throttle opening to keep the same speed.
You want a map set at approx 14.7:1 for cruise situations and approx 12.6-13.1:1 for acceleration |

| Re: pc3 and fuel mileage Its just a bolt on hindle but the throttle has been jerky at lower rpms. Im not to concerned about hp(dont want to loose any) but mainly want to smooth it out. |

the Yoshi EMS has clutchless shifter, change-up light, gear offset and EMS all bundled into 1 unit at $325 which seems like a bargain compared to PC3.
Anyone got one of these? |

| Re: pc3 and fuel mileage They ain't that cheap here mate. Besides, the pc gets mapped for both anyway. Pleasetell me where you need "economy" at 80-100% throttle at 12000rpm. You don't. Now, please tell me where you nee "power" at 2-5% throttle at 4500rpm. You don't. All this map for power, map for economy stuff is Bullshit. |

You don't just map your cruising rev range but also throttle openings too. If you grab 80% even at 5000rpm you're not looking for economy, are you?
