CROSBY — A La Porte man died in a motorcycle accident north of Baytown Sunday.
The 29-year-old rear-ended a truck that was making a left turn while attempting to pass it on the 3900 block of F.M. 1942 at about 5 p.m., said Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy C.J. Meaux.
The victim’s name was not available for release as of press time.
A man riding on another motorcycle with him was injured, Meaux said.
The men were headed northwest to Barrett Station and were behind the white pickup.
They were attempting to pass the pickup on its left side when it turned left into Stables Lane, according to Meaux.
The victim hit the rear left corner of the truck and was cut in two at the waist upon impact with the truck’s steel bumper, Meaux said.
He was already dead when emergency services arrived, Meaux said.
The other driver drove into a field south of the road. Meaux said he was badly scraped and was taken to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital.
The truck driver suffered no serious injuries.
Crosby Fire and Rescue responded to the accident.
