Ditch the Burgman scooter pipe, takes some pics and post em up. I'm curious to see if I warm to it, once "The Abomination" is removed...
Oh, and you gotta give a ride report! Don't just post pics, we all know what they look like |

| Re: Confession: Bought an 05 G1k.. Haven't had any time to ride in the last few days. Picked it up on Saturday (very light periods of snow and friggin cold!), Sunday was busy as hell, finally got a chance to ride it for a little bit on Monday but not enough to warrant any kind of detailed report. Last couple days sucked due to weather and work so again, no time.
Got 40 miles on her so far (only ).
Initial impressions are:
Mirrors are not as bad as I thought, can actually see behind me at normal speeds. Plastics are a nightmare to remove, jigsaw puzzle but I guess I'll get used to it. Gear indicator is the ****! Yeah I know we can all get by without one, but it comes in handy when you're just "not sure", works really well as it should. Parts are not yet readily available, both OEM and aftermarket so getting the screen, slip-on, service manual and a new bracket for my Scotts will be a bitch (stock damper might as well not be there, it sucks IMO). Absolutely no trunk space whatsoever but I don't bring much with me anyway. Ergo's are very similar to that of my '01 R1 so I felt right at home. Bike is and feels very slim and lower. A friend of mine had a hard time getting his feet flat while sitting on a GSX-R600 but was very comfortable sitting on the 1k.
Riding impressions:
Shifts really smooth, buttery would be a good word. Haven't had a chance to fully exploit the back torque limiting clutch yet but downshifts seem very smooth as well. Haven't taken it past 7k yet (SOON) but definately feels like she's got alot to give. Torque/mid-range is there. The brakes aren't quite as good as I expected but I might just need to get used to them, or change out the pads. I adjusted the brake lever all the way out and that seemed to help a little, still could use a little more bite. Hopefully they just need to break in a bit. Steering is very responsive, agile bike for sure. Feels light, flickable yet planted at the same time.
I wanted to push it a little more, especially in some turns. However the combination of cold weather/pavement and new tires kept me honest on the short rides I've had.
The low gas light is annoying as hell. It starts blinking when you get down to about a gallon and then stays on steadily once you fall below .5 gallons. The "pass" button or the little yellow button on the left clip on that you press to flash the high beams is kinda stupid. Can be distracting if you do a quick shift, accidentally hit the button and see the high beam indicator light come on. Going to see if I can turn that into a garage door opener or something
Overall I'm very happy with the bike, just wish I could have gotten a few more rides/miles in. I should have a better report after this weekend. |

There is a cool little feature on the bike, you can set it so when you pull over and turn the bike off the rear LED taillight stays on. Could prove safe and useful for those times you stop by the side of the road to stretch, talk, figure out your next destination etc.

I actually sat on one this past weekend and was surprised at how narrow the seat is and in return how low you sit.
To my amazement I just about had the same footing than on my 954 that I lowered 1.75" Definitely a good bike for short ppl. |

Great looking bike! I've changed my mind ( what?!?!- ) after I saw one of the thous in the flesh. Much prettier machine (including the can) than I previously believed.
The only thing I dislike about it is that it's 7/8th's scale. I couldn't ride it and be happy with the ergos for long. The bike is just so tiny. Quote: |

Any time I'd pull over for a photo op, I'd flick the hazards on. Made me alot more conspicuous to the cagers who were driving on by paying more attention to the scenery than the road.

You probably should put some brake fluid in that resovoir, that'll help your braking issues. (just kidding, that picture makes it look like it's empty).
The gear indicator seems like it should be on ALL bikes. Geez, the bikes nowadays costing $11,000 can't afford an indicator? Hazard lights? Never knew that. And is flicking the high beams while passing used more over in Europe? I just don't see this practice over here very often.
Very, very nice!
I have to say though, the first GSXR1000 I saw in person WAS doing a standup wheelie down 77 South, Starboyz territory! |

It’s pretty evident Honda is not producing the bikes people want to see/ride as everyone on the board it buying everything BUT a Honda. |

Oh, I forgot, safety issues aren't that important to you. You don't even have mirrors on your bike...
