Re: Fleeing suspect caught on......

Here is a little excerpt taken from Motorcycle USA's latest and very good review of the 2k5 Liter class bikes:

"So you like to go fast, eh? Blazingly, obscenely fast? Well, you'd better hang on tight because this quintet can bring felony-levels of acceleration and speed without even getting out of first gear.

"You don't buy 1000s to go 55," notes Editorial Director and chief mullet Ken Hutchison. "You buy them because you're going to go out and break some traffic laws.""

My point is that, that is exactly why people buy liter bikes my friend. The manufacturers are folding to a consumer society. Give em what they want. 100mph in first gear, here ya go. Oh, but please don't ever do that on public streets. Oh, and we are sorry that you can't open the throttle in 1st or 2nd gear too much without pulling the front wheel up, which the man calls wreckless driving btw. I guess I'll be a dumbass for life since liter bikes are where its at. Hell, the way they build em now, you don't even have to try to break the law. YOU HAVE TO TRY NOT TOO! So please don't tell me that the manufacturers don't play a role in the current epidemic of dumb assholes on the roads getting the media all excited. Yes, I agree that it is the rider who utimately decides to break the law, and in black and white, it is wrong. I'm not saying that the cops should get a life or that what the kid did was okay, just that people are quick to judge and jump in on similar threads to this one with a whitty, post whore , one liner "that dumb ass" when they haven't been necessarily the greatest person on the road in a legal manner.

I dont think the point of dissagreement here is whether or not the majority of people break the law on motorcycles or cars or whatever. Just that most people stop and "take their medicine" when they get caught. You dance the dance, you pay the piper....

Re: Fleeing suspect caught on......

Ok, I don't like getting into these topics. Being a cop sometimes puts what you say in the "kill the fun, follow all the rule all the time" mind set to whom your talking to. So haveing said that here goes...

Have I ever broke the law on my bike, traffic wise, yes. Have I ever broken the law in my car, well yes. I think the point trying to be made by some here is this. Speeding is one thing. You speed, you get the blue lights, you pay the fine. The only thing that gets hurt is your checkbook. You speed, get the blue lights and run many things can happen that could come at a much higher price. Even if you got away and some one else got hurt, is that worth it? Maybe this line of thought runs through my mind because I have a wife with my two and five year old boys that drive on the street everyday. Everybody has someone out there and they don't want them killed because some guy thinks its cool to run from the cops.

I always tell my wife that I ride to my skill level. If I do ride a little fast I focus on my ridding more. If I was focused on getting away from the cops I couldn't be focused on my riding.

I guess what I saying is do your thing but look at the bigger picture.
