"Off-season" riding

Okay. I've really bitten by the motorcycle bug. I'm thinking of riding during the fall and winter season's as well. Because of this I'm wandering what a good bike for commuting during rain and other types of "bad" weather. I like the sport bike types of course, so I'm thinking of the VFR. What are your thoughts?

Re: "Off-season" riding

I ride all year round, and here in New York you have to have a bike that can stand abuse. Sportbikes really can't handle cold/rain/snow type stuff, so last winter I had a Kawi ZRX1100. It was just one of those bikes you can do really anything with, and don't have to worry too much about it. You wanna ride all year, best have a beater-type bike for the winter. I'd never take my 900RR out in bad weather, thats one way to make the bike look real old real fast.

Thanks. I really appreciate your replies. Scout really like that SV650(S?). I can definitely see myself riding something like that in the winter.

What about a motard? Do you have snow in the winter? I can't imagine riding in snow...
If I had to though, I'd get a CRF or something with snow/ice tires...

Re: "Off-season" riding

I've rode both my 600f4 and 1000rr in the snow. The rationale was each block I could ride was one less block I had to walk. And I made it home. I was surprised I had less problems on my bikes than the other cars. The rear wheel was packed with snow by the time I rolled into the garage.

Never underestimate the slick looking tires on your bike.

Re: "Off-season" riding

Now that's what I'm talking about.
I don't think we even get snow like that in Seattle. Alot of rain and ice.

Re: "Off-season" riding

Rain, no problem. Ice, now that is a problem
If you like sports bikes a CBR600F makes a great commuter/all-rounder.
