Cleaning

I'm now thoroughly convinced it's impossible to clean a black/gloss bike without getting spiderwebs.

Maybe I should pick up some 2002 Silver plastics....

Re: Cleaning

I hate washing my bike altogether. Everytime I wash it I get caught in the rain just after. Washed it today and there were just scattered shower and I managed to get caught in 2 of them. The second we were going towards where there was nice blue sky, turned out we went into the rain cloud rather than away. Oh well, if you don't ride in the rain you don't ride.

I generally will just use the Honda Spray Cleaner Polish and a clean terrycloth. Cleans 'er up real nice! And yes, that's on black.

Re: Cleaning

If you clear your plastic you will have better luck. Out of all the black cars/trucks/bikes I have had, I use a thing called Gloss enhancer. It is made by 3M and seems to make them go away if there are any. Also there are anti swirl mark creams out there...but that is more for buffing.

Don't go silver.

EDIT: by clear - I mean CLEAR COAT!

Waxing is easier on black cause you can see all of the dried wax.

Dirtbike plastics are the worst for finish durability. I was warned about this before I bought. They weren't wrong.

I assume you're talking to Conq, not me. I've owned this sucker for just a few days, have almost 500 miles on the clock, have ridden in the rain twice, on dirt once, and have yet to wash it.

My bike is lucky to be washed more than 3 times in a year... Very lucky to be waxed at all. Sometimes I'll consider a wash to be a nice long ride in the rain.

All Meguiars products kick ass.

Use them on everything I have.

But c'mon, Conq. Wash that puppy every now and then. I've washed every bike I've ever owned.

No problems.

Those rides are supposed to look dirty pal. It's like having a nice 4X4 truck, do you think it looks better clean and shiny or well used and muddy???

Conq, take a downer man, you're gonna spin a bearing!!!

Mo Noyz, back when I had my blow-boat, meguiars ruled for anything for boats, so I should only assume they rock for anything they do.

Theres a reason you can replace every piece of bodywork on the bike for $125 buddy, remember this . Heck the stickers on my YZ cost more then the plastics themselves, heh.

But on a serious note for DB plastics:
-mop n glo
-novus plastic polish
-hairdryer for the white spots
-polisport plastics (little bit more durable finish, allegedly)

Oh yeah!

I've always used their 3 step Deep Crystal system(deep cleaner/polish/wax) for my car, AND my bike.

Spray it down with silicone then wipe it with a silicone soaked rag. Almost all the dirt will rinse right off. I spray on some degreaser and even the mud falls right off. I never touch any on my off-road bikes with a rag when I wash them. The silicone makes the bike shine like new too.

Castrol Superclean don't breathe it - but it cleans nice!

I also dig suzuki bike wash (black spray bottle), works suprisingly well on dirt rides.
