Went down today.

I went down for the first time today. I came in to a turn a little too hot in second and backed off the throttle over what happened to be pea gravel. Ended up high siding in to a guard rail at around 50 mph, bounced off it and slid a good 50 feet. Luckily I made it out with a little bit of rash on my palm and rib cage where the mesh jacket tore through. Couple of bruises, my cheap icon field armor back protector absorbed the guard rail impact pretty damned well and the JR phoenix pants remained completely intact along with probably saving me from a broken knee cap.

The 929 held up fairly well, the upper is toast along with the clip ons, fender and fairing stay. Amazingly the head light survived completely. The only thing that has me worried is the stearing stem is loose now. Probably broke a bearing race I am thinking.

The only good part was the guy on the hardly who stopped to help me pick the bike up was suddenly convinced to go out and buy some gear

All BS aside glad you are still around to tell us about it though. I'm with Rocket, go get checked out at least, just to see if you have any internal injuries.

good to know you came out of it pretty good.

A friend of mine has a compressed fracture in his back from a crash a few weeks ago. He was thrown off the bike and slammed his back into an embankment on the side of the road. No back protector.

For bouncing off a guardrail I'd say you made out pretty good. Go get checked out and have pain killers on stand-by.

I didn't go get checked out, but DO NOT suggest that you follow suit.

Thanks guys, I did end up getting checked out. No major damage but I feel like half the muscles in my body are bruised today. Going to go start taking the bike apart if/when I stop aching quite so badly.

Man, I feel your pain... Literally.

Rest up and if you're like me, today you hurt, tomorrow you'll be hurting worse.

Glad that you and the bike are okay. Rest and calm down (if you can) and give it some time.

No kidding. When I crashed my 900RR I didn't go to the hospital until the next day. Turns out the scaphoid and calcaneous bones don't heal themselves overnight. Who knew?

Glad you made it. Going down sucks but at least you were wearing your gear. Thinking of the 'what if' will really freak you out.
