Bike won't start.... suggestions

So 70 degree days in November in Michigan are rare... and a pleasant treat. We had one yesterday so I rode into work with no problems. On the ride home all was going well until I got stuck in some traffic. I was stuck in stop and go for about 5 minutes and when I finally got to the clear the bike kind of bogged and then lurched before taking off. After that it ran fine. This morning I got up to come into work and when I tried to start it up it kind of tried to turn then just puttered out. All the electrical seems to work and there is plenty of gas. After trying to start it a few times it just makes a rapid "clicking" sound when I hit the starter. I had to leave early so I didn't really have any time to look into it. Any suggestions where to start?

Check to see if all of your electrical connections are corrosion free and tight, The clicking indicates you don't have anough juice in your battery to activate the starter motor, so the solenoid just cycles.

If that's the case, and if the battery will hold a charge, then you have charging problems, which might mean a new R/R (regulator-rectifier). That's been a weak component on VFR's since forever.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll be digging into it this weekend. I'll start with the electrical and plugs and go from there.
